The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role leads and manages the financial health of the organisation by overseeing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, and compliance. With direct reports including Operations/Supply Chain Finance, General Ledger Accounts Payable, and Payroll, this role plays a key part in the preparation and integrity of financial statements, financial forecasting, and managing the Australia finance team. The role also oversees audit and tax processes, ensuring all financial operations comply with Australian regulations, company policies, and external reporting requirements for Australia.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Australian accounting standards (AASB) and relevant legislation. Own the SAP accounting system and general ledger; ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness of the general ledgers and trial balances of each entity within the Australian group. Own P&L, B/S (Balance Sheet) and CF (Cash Flow) statements and associated supporting documents.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow management, including the preparation of cash flow projections, ensuring the organization maintains optimal liquidity. Manage payments with the Accounts Payable team, be the central payment authoriser, manage the banking platform.
  • Insurance: Manage insurance policies of the group to ensure appropriate cover across all insurance categories, coordinate annual renewals and pricing reviews.
  • Taxation: Manage tax reporting, ensuring compliance with GST, income tax, payroll tax, and other tax obligations with the objectives of managing the Company’s tax risks & exposures, optimizing the Company’s tax benefits, and ensuring the Company’s compliance with external reporting requirements.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws, corporate governance standards, and other regulatory requirements. Manage internal controls and mitigate financial risks.
  • Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors for the annual audit process, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Implement recommendations from audit findings.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting and financial processes for increased efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the development of annual budgets and regular financial forecasts. Provide insights and variance analysis to ensure financial performance aligns with goals. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making. Analyse financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture. Oversee training and development of staff to ensure professional growth.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as the CFO, senior management, and other departments. Present financial results and strategic recommendations to key stakeholders. Own all levels of management reporting at Board level, operational level and for shareholder requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, with CA or CPA qualification, and 10+ years post-qualified experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a big four audit firm, plus company operating experience.
  • Strong across technical accounting, processes (i.e., R2R, P2P, O2C) and commercial finance.
  • Significant relevant experience in a similar finance leadership role.
  • FMCG industry experience with work on food and beverage brands.

  • Proven leadership and team management experience with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, macros), experience with financial reporting tools and ERP (SAP) skills
