At 133-years old The Princess Theatre reigns as Queensland's oldest standing theatre. The heritage-listed building, which opened in 1888, has over the years housed a picture theatre, a rag merchant, a secondhand dealer, a paper wholesaler, an engineering firm, and most recently, a church. The reopening of this iconic destination was helmed by The Tivoli owners, brothers Steve Sleswick and Dave Sleswick, alongside prominent Brisbane businessman Steve Wilson. Following meticulous and faithful restorations, The Princess reopened to the public in 2021 and now boasts a state-of-the-art performance auditorium designed for a standing capacity of 920, a seated theatre capacity of 500, cocktail capacity of 700, banquet capacity of 272. It also features four bars, a public cafe, private event spaces, a rehearsal room and an outdoor courtyard.

FOR SCHOOLS | The Big Dialogue: Housing - What Do We Want To Achieve? on Monday week at The Princess is a rare opportunity for school students participating or interested in #DialoguesAtSchool https://lnkd.in/grNWpq_x to observe a model of a better discussion of a big topic between adult experts with genuinely diverse perspectives. Housing policy is very important, including to young people, but the biggest problem we face is that we can't discuss, or discuss well, all the *other* big problems we face, including housing of course. So the dialogue on 20 May is important in itself, and is designed to be the first in an informal national series on housing policy by collaboration with interstate partners, but it is part of an even bigger picture, and nowhere is that more important than in schools! Tickets are only $10 for secondary students and supervising school staff, well below cost, because we want to have as many fresh young faces and minds as possible coming and as many as possible going back enthusiastic about the annual school dialogues series and Dialogues Clubs through the year.
