Heifer International Bangladesh, in collaboration with Heifer Korea and in partnership with Grameen Danone Foods Limited, provides fortified yogurt ‘Shokti Doi’ to1,250 school children through the Milk for School Project. This initiative boosts child nutrition, improves school attendance, and empowers smallholder women dairy farmers in the Sirajganj district of Bangladesh. With a focus on ensuring fair pricing for the smallholder women dairy farmers, this initiative supports them earn a stable income and addresses hunger and poverty while promoting sustainable livestock rearing practices. The Milk for School Project demonstrates how private sector partnerships can foster change for a more sustainable future. Heifer International Bangladesh has partnered with University of Rajshahi to launch an innovative project '𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥', aiming to improve village chicken production in rural Bangladesh. In collaboration with The Australian National University and Kyeema Foundation, this initiative will offer sustainable Newcastle Disease control solutions, enhancing food security and creating economic opportunities for rural farmers, especially women. Over the next three years, this collaboration will engage 5,000 households in 118 villages across Rajshahi and Natore districts, focusing on: 🔬 Testing a thermotolerant Newcastle Disease vaccine 🏭 Establishing sustainable vaccine production at Rajshahi University 👩🌾 Empowering women farmers with improved poultry practices The expected outcomes of this project include improved chicken productivity, enhanced technical capacity of the beneficiaries, and greater food security. The project emphasizes participatory and gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation, ensuring that the impacts are effectively measured and that the voices of all stakeholders are heard.
