    Combining Technology and Surgical Precision for Patient-Centered Care   We are pleased to have contributed to a tumor resection procedure at Cooper University Hospital, performed by Dr. Christina Gutowski, MD MPH’s team.   For this intervention, our resection guide, specifically designed unsing the patient’s preoperative CT and MRI scans, enabled a customized plan and precise execution of each surgical step.   The case involved a bone tumor requiring resection with safety margins of 7 to 10 mm to minimize recurrence risk. With the help of the guide, Dr. Christina Gutowski was able to confidently follow specific cutting planes, ensuring complete removal of the tumor while preserving the surrounding healthy structures.   Once the osteotomy was completed, the surgeon safely removed the tumor and performed reconstruction with a shaped allograft, ensuring a ideal fit to the patient’s anatomy.   The main challenge of the reconstruction was to restore the functionality of the hip joint, as a portion of the acetabulum also had to be resected. However, through careful selection of the allograft, we were able to perform a 3D simulation of its reconstruction during pre-operative planning, enabling us to achieve the optimal positioning to preserve the acetabulum.   At 3D-Side, we are committed to support medical teams with tailored solutions to contribute to safer and more effective patient care.   #3dcut #allograftreconstruction #supersurgeon

    When Collaboration Leads to Success! This Tuesday, we’d like to highlight a case of the tumor resection in the Sacro-iliac joint region. By providing our customized cutting guides, we ensured precise planning and perfect surgical execution.   Key Points of the Procedure: ▪ Usage of two patient-specific cutting guides, stabilized by 7 K-wires. ▪ A meticulous laminectomy to ensure access and preservation of essential nerve structures. ▪ Careful planning to avoid unnecessary weakening of the supraacetabular region ▪ Execution of 6 cutting planes with accurate safety margins, tailored to the anatomical complexity. Collaboration and Expertise: Our approach, based on 3D reconstructions derived from CT and MRI images, allowed optimal resection planning and customized guide designs of the surgery. Outcome: The guides facilitated an accurate resection and successful extraction of the tumor specimen, all while preserving critical structures. A heartfelt thank you to the surgical team for their expertise and trust.     Clinical Case: Resection and Reconstruction of Ewing’s Sarcoma with Pathological Fracture   For this patient, Dr. Pierre-Louis Docquier and our team worked together to plan a precise resection of Ewing’s sarcoma located in the femur, taking into account an existing pathological fracture. After in-depth discussions, we planed a lateral resection with a 15 mm safety margin to remove the tumor. The cutting guide was designed to ensure stable positioning, using 4 K-wires and stabilizing wings on each side of the guide. This setup facilitates a unique and precise placement during the intervention.   The reconstruction was performed with an allograft, matched to a model of the contralateral bone to restore the patient's anatomy as natural as possible.   We extend our thanks to Dr. Pierre-Louis Docquier for his expertise and collaboration in this surgical planning. #3dcut #3dside #supersurgeon #bonetumorresection
