E-mobility is the future, and we’re building it ⚡ Last week, at the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the Automotive Industry roundtable with Apostolos Tzitzikostas, ChargeUp Europe’s members brought the voice of the EV charging industry to the table. Their message was clear: 🔹 Europe’s charging infrastructure is scaling rapidly. With close to 1 million charging points installed in the EU at the beginning of 2025, the charging network is not the bottleneck. 🔹 Now, we need more EVs on the road. Stronger incentives for fleet electrification and the second-hand market will keep demand growing. 🔹 Charging is about innovation. From energy storage to grid integration, technology is advancing fast to make charging seamless and efficient. 🔹 Europe stands to gain enormously from the e-mobility transition. With a strong grid and reduced reliance on fossil fuels, e-mobility has the potential to be a key driver of economic growth and global competitiveness. We look forward to maintaining our momentum in the strategic dialogue, with our participation already secured in the next round of discussions with Ursula von der Leyen on 3 March. CEOs from across the EV charging infrastructure industry met with Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas today as part of the Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the Automotive Industry in Europe 💬🚗⚡️ They emphasised the need for: 🔹 Policy predictability: Changing course on the EU’s #zeroemission targets would undermine investor confidence. 🔹 Sustaining EV demand: #eMobility is an investment in Europe’s future. The charging industry is already committing billions to infrastructure; this investment will drive a resilient and globally competitive e-mobility ecosystem. The strategic dialogue should focus on helping all OEMs bring more EVs to EU roads. A thriving #EVcharging industry is critical for the success of Europe’s automotive industry as a whole. We’re excited to welcome Joren Schepers as our new Policy Officer! ⚡ An industrial engineer by training, Joren brings hands-on experience in grid infrastructure, renewable energy systems, and project management. After focusing on distribution grids and market facilitation at Eurelectric, he’ll support our advocacy efforts to accelerate #EVcharging deployment, strengthen grid integration, and ensure Europe’s charging infrastructure keeps pace with transport electrification. With his technical expertise and fresh policy perspective, he’s a fantastic addition to the team. It’s great to have you onboard, Joren! 👏

Our response to the public consultation on the future of the EU automotive industry 🚗🔋 Ahead of last week’s deadline, we have submitted our response to the European Commission’s public consultation on the future of the automotive sector. We call for: 🔹 An ecosystem approach – #eMobility is, at its core, a collaborative endeavour. 🔹 Policy predictability – A stable regulatory framework is essential for investment confidence. 🔹 Improved EV volumes – The Industrial Plan should sustain #EV demand. 🔹 Energy & transport alignment – Access to the electricity grid must be free of barriers and delays.

"Broadening up the solution space is the name of the game." – Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra Yesterday, our secretary general Lucie Mattera joined the strategic dialogue on #decarbonisation, where discussions took a much-needed broader ecosystem approach to the #eMobility transition. Some key takeaways: 🔹 The direct path to decarbonisation? Stick to the plan. Policy certainty is essential. Investors and consumers alike need clarity to keep the transition on track. 🔹 There was broad consensus that financial support for #EV demand is needed; it’s now more a question of “how” than “if”. 🔹 #EVcharging is no longer framed as the roadblock - which was refreshing. Instead, discussions focused on making charging more seamless and user-friendly - something we will always support. 🔹 Grid challenges in the spotlight: The Commission’s decision to include DSOs in the room was very welcome ensuring a more holistic discussion on the changes needed across the e-mobility value chain. We emphasised: ⚡ Policy predictability to secure investment pathways. 🚗 Improved EV volumes as a key part of the solution. 🔌 Fixing grid bottlenecks to accelerate deployment. 💰 De-risking investment through a reformed AFIF. 📑 Administrative simplification to keep us nimble. We look forward to continuing our work with policymakers to make it happen. If corporate fleets pick up the pace and electrify at the same rate as private cars, we’ll have 9️⃣ million additional EVs on EU roads by 2035. 📈 It would also add an extra 4️⃣ million EVs to the second-hand market. Corporates account for about 57% of new car registrations, but are currently electrifying much more slowly than private cars: there’s potential here for improved #EV volumes! How to achieve that? 1️⃣ Policy support: - Comprehensive policies - Financial incentives 2️⃣ Strong company commitment: - Setting fleet electrification goals - Engaging employees in the transition 3️⃣ Expert support to share: - Technical knowledge - Resources and networks - Industry best practices.
