What a week we had at Web Summit! At the New Energy Summit Stage and beyond, we drove critical discussions on the future of energy: ✅ November 12: Vera Pinto Pereira opened with “The Energy Transition: A New Hope for Our Planet,” followed by António Coutinho’s masterclass on turning innovation into real solutions. ✅ November 13: André Machado Gonçalves, PMP, Mariana Costa, and Angela Pineda Tejero explored practical ways to accelerate change. On the Centre Stage, Luís Castro Henriques judged the Pitch semi-finals, spotlighting disruptive energy startups. ✅ November 14: António Coutinho and Michael Liebreich closed with “How Big Companies Drive Startup Success in Energy,” highlighting the power of partnerships. This partnership in Portugal includes: ☀️ Installation of energy communities in more than 20 stores throughout the country, which will allow Staples to achieve around 50% independence from the grid, sharing benefits with 2,000 neighbours. 🚗 Installation of 60 public charging points for electric vehicles in almost 90% of Staples stores in Portugal. 💡 Supply of electricity to all Staples facilities in the country for 7 years, reducing electricity costs by 30%, ensuring cost stability and predictability. This integrated project makes us proud and reinforces our energy transition path towards decarbonization, together with our clients around the world. Ocean Winds Completes Turbine Installation at Moray West Offshore Wind Farm. We’re thrilled to announce the installation of the final turbine at Moray West, led by OW Ocean Winds in Scotland. With a total capacity of 882 MW, this offshore wind farm will deliver clean energy to 1.3 million UK homes once fully operational in 2025. Explaining the photograph that he took at the Cerca Photovoltaic Plant, in Portugal, Paulo Sengo says that "the blend of the solar farm with the vegetation shows coexistence is possible" between innovation and nature. When asked if he believes this picture defines EDP, Paulo thinks that a connection can be made to our work: “There’s a path ahead which you can’t see the end of. There could be others like it, and even some crossroads down further, but there also needs to be some faith this one takes you closer to your objective”.
