Together with Belsimpel | Gomibo we are making digital inclusion a reality! In the spirit of giving, Belsimpel swapped their yearly partner Christmas gifts for a donation of €7.500 to support an impactful project in Africa. Thanks to the valuable support from Belsimpel, we are delivering computers and a multifunctional printer to SkillsLink, an African partner organization. We are also providing internet connectivity and training to ensure the devices are used to their full potential. Yesterday, Close the Gap participated in the Business Club Africa event organized by Voka - Kamer van Koophandel Antwerpen-Waasland in Antwerp. Our general manager, Peter Manderick, took the stage to introduce our mission, highlight our activities, and share insights on doing business in African countries. Closing the Loop while we Close the Gap! ♻️ To everyone who sometimes gets confused 🤔 : you are not alone! Our colleague Marnick Vanlee bumped into Reinhardt Smit, Supply Chain Director at Closing the Loop at an event on E-Waste management in Tanzania last month. Closing the Loop is an organization dedicated to narrowing down the impact of improper e-waste management by sustaining proper recycling flows: for every new device deployed by their corporate partners, Closing the Loop ensures to collect and recycle an end-of-life device in Africa to facilitate an environmentally friendly flow of ICT use. At Close the Gap, our mission is to fight digital inequality by the provision of refurbished computer devices, aiming to circularize the electronics value system in an environmentally responsible way. You could therefore say that Close the Gap’s lifetime extension activities come in one step before Closing the Loop is engaged, and so our activities are very complementary. So yes: we get the confusion!
