About us
Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) is a new trade association for companies working in the cycling sector, operating in Brussels from early 2019. It is developing from the Cycling Industry Club, an informal business network which has supported the work of the European Cyclists’ Federation since 2011. When I started BikeFolder, the idea was based on that the bicycle is one of the best tools to move people from A to B. It’s not just a mode of transportation—it’s a phenomenal product for recreation, exercise, and mobility for people of all ages and cultures. At BikeFolder, we see ourselves as a perfect fit among CIE's members, with our core mission of connecting bicycles more closely with their local bike shops while also working to improve conditions for independent bike retailers. ☁️ Air pollution remains the biggest environmental threat to human health, and levels in Europe still far exceed what the World Health Organization (WHO) considers healthy. 🤝 By 2030, European cities must implement new measures to improve air quality, with reducing pollution from transport as a key priority. 🌍 Cycling UK has launched its Cycle Friendly Buildings accreditation, which recognises office buildings of all sizes that support cycling-friendly initiatives. The program aims to broaden the impact of these initiatives and encourage more employees to commute by bike. 🔑 Key Features: • Tailored support for landlords and building managers to enhance cycling accessibility, including guidance on bike racks, secure storage, shower facilities, and ensuring these amenities are effectively utilised. • Encouraging businesses and building managers to communicate the benefits of cycling, such as reduced commuting costs and improved employee health. • Providing tailored advice on fostering workplace cultures that promote cycling—beyond just improving infrastructure. • Policy recommendations for employers, such as implementing cycle-to-work schemes. 👏 At CIE, we applaud initiatives like this and look forward to seeing more people encouraged to cycle.
