As part of its Programme on the #CircularEconomy in #Cities and #Regions, OECD just released its report on the circular economy in #Berlin, Germany. The region has experienced a population growth of 10% between 2013 and 2023 (versus an average of 5% in OECD countries), leading to increasing Domestic Material Consumption and a challenge for sustainable use of resources. Berlin’s journey towards a circular economy started with the adoption of the Waste Management Concept 2020-2030 to reduce household, water and construction waste. It then established the Coordination Office for Circular Economy, Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection in Business in 2022 and the Zero Waste Agency in 2023. This paper looks at remaining challenges for Berlin, including policy coherence, and provides recommendations to accelerate the transition.  https://lnkd.in/eXuXpkse
