🏠⚡ Electrification meets innovation: living inside a wind turbine! For this #FunFriday post we want you to imagine a tiny house packed with smart, sustainable features—all inside a repurposed wind turbine nacelle! Vattenfall and design studio Superuse, have transformed the nacelle of a 20-year old wind turbine in Austria, into a fully functional home. 💡 What makes this prototype so electrifying? 👉 Equipped with a heat pump, #solar panels, and a solar water heater, it showcases the power of #electrification in sustainable living. 👉 Features include a kitchen, bathroom, and living space—all within 10 meters of eco-innovation. Wind turbines are 85 to 90% recyclable. But nacelles are made of glass fibre and reinforced plastics; they are harder to recycle. This prototype demonstrates how materials can be repurposed for innovative and practical uses. 🏢 To accelerate the shift towards direct and #smartelectrification for end-users, we need to electrify Europe's buildings now! We urge the European Commission to: ✅ Set clear targets for deploying #heatpumps to drive #decarbonisation across new and old buildings. ✅ Recommend that Member States introduce measures to address the electrical installation of buildings as part of their National Energy and Climate Plans (#NECPs). In its first 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ days, the new European Commission must publish the announced Electrification Action Plan, addressing these key points so that we can reach #netzero emissions by 2050.
