This morning, the INSTAR Standards and CEI-Sphere Workshop on "Cross-Domain Standardisation and Architecture for IoT and Edge Computing" delivered valuable insights and takeaways. Antonio Kung (Trialog, OCEI), alongside Rolf Riemenschneider and Carlos López Rodríguez from DG CNECT, chaired the summary session, highlighting the collaborative progress made during the discussions.
1️⃣ #Energy stands out as a pivotal cross-sector domain requiring comprehensive #collaboration. Efforts must be made to integrate its standards across different industries to drive innovation and efficiency.
2️⃣ Strengthened #international #partnerships, e.g. with South Korea, particularly in edge computing standardisation, highlight the value of sharing roadmaps and connecting experts. More in general, pilots and projects should avoid isolated operations, instead cooperating with cooperation and support actions on Cloud-Edge-IoT and standardisation initiatives like INSTAR, INDICO-Global, and HSBooster for networking and socialisation. Additionally, platforms like StandICT offer valuable support for individual standardisation efforts.
3️⃣ Standards and business strategies are intertwined. Anticipating industry needs and contributing to standards in their formative stages is vital to ensure alignment and relevance.
4️⃣ The ICT Rolling Plan provides valuable guidance and should be actively contributed to, as it undergoes annual updates to reflect emerging priorities.
5️⃣ Collaboration between open source communities and standardisation bodies must continue to grow, ensuring mutual reinforcement of efforts.
Looking ahead, CEI-Sphere and INSTAR Standards will soon release a comprehensive summary report of the workshop’s outcomes. Stay tuned for updates! 🔔
