Feasible Recovery of #criticalrawmaterials through a new circular Ecosystem FOR a Li-Ion Battery cross-value chain in EU
About us
FREE4LIB is a EU-funded research project on 21 technologies covering the entire Li-Ion battery value-chain: - sustainable and efficient processes to recycle EOL LIBs: dismantling, pre-treatment and 4 materials recovery processes) - processes aiming at metals and polymers re-using and electrode synthesis: this will allow the re-manufacturing of new LIBs with a Design for Recycling. - new Battery Passport (BP) methodology, and Open Platforms for the BP and Data-driven models. FREE4LIB consortium is composed by 22 partners across 7 different countries, representing key stakeholders within the whole value chain (research institutions, manufacturing and recycling companies, public bodies). Funded by Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No 1069890. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). 🔋 Introducing the FREE4LIB Battery Passport Concept This digital platform aims to store comprehensive information about lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) from electric vehicles (EVs), including their composition, state of health (SoH), and lifecycle data. Partners from Universität Graz drafted a comprehensive framework and guidelines for FREE4LIB's Battery Passport, based on research, literature, workshops and interviews with project partners. The deliverable highlights several findings: 🔎 Data Needs and Requirements: Detailed information on battery composition, SoH, lifecycle data, and repair instructions. 🌐 Data Model: A comprehensive model to facilitate information flow between stakeholders. ♻️ Support for Design for Recycling (DfR): Detailed disassembly instructions to aid recyclers. 📈 Process Design Optimization: Enhancing recycling processes and overall efficiency. The deliverable also emphasizes the importance of standardization, continued collaboration, and regulatory alignment to ensure the successful implementation of the battery passport. As we progress, we will develop and test prototypes, engage with stakeholders, and conduct pilot testing in real-world scenarios. 👉 Click here to access the full article and learn more about the Battery Passport Concept and its impact on sustainable battery management: https://lnkd.in/eTsjrYC6
