How can we ensure #ArtificialIntelligence benefits #patients while mitigating its risks? Last week at #PEOF, we explored how to involve patients in shaping AI, and examined the opportunities and emerging challenges at this dynamic intersection.
A big thank you to all who joined us to explore this topic, and to our panelists for their outstanding contributions to the PFMD .org session "Engaging Patients in AI: From Ethical Oversight to Co-Design." Moderated by Derick Mitchell (IPPOSI), we heard about different approaches to ensuring the patient's voice in AI from Kersten Sharrock, M.S. (Sanofi), Mitchell Silva, PhD (EUPATI Belgium), Hannah-Marie Weller (DG-CNECT, EU Commission), and Sameer Pujari (WHO). Another heartfelt thanks to Milana Trucl (EPF) for helping us shape this insightful session.
The panel discussion underscored the importance of partnering with patients, having a human/patient-in-the-loop approach for responsible AI, and the critical need for education and increased explainability to safeguard equity. It also highlighted the benefits of AI as a powerful tool to accelerate processes and drive innovation.
To ensure transparency, foster collaboration, and create more effective, patient-centered AI solutions in #healthcare, it is essential to adopt a multistakeholder, international approach to standardized frameworks that include patients from the very start.
The session outcomes, pictures & recording will soon be available in Synapse (https://lnkd.in/e_9eRmCA)
