Scabal proudly showcased its exclusive collection of paintings created in collaboration with Salvador Dalí in 1971. This successful event offered a rare opportunity to explore the creativity between timeless craftsmanship and the surrealist vision of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Celebrating Innovation and Craftsmanship: Scabal’s Partnership with London College of Fashion. For over five years, Scabal has proudly supported the next generation of tailoring creatives through our sponsorship of the London College of Fashion’s Bespoke Tailoring Course. This ongoing collaboration has allowed us to foster innovation and nurture new talent in the world of bespoke tailoring, and the 2024 project was no exception. Each year, Scabal sets the main project for the second-year students, providing a unique opportunity for them to push boundaries and redefine bespoke tailoring. This year's theme, The Art of Luxury, drew inspiration from Scabal’s deep connection to the world of art. Students were challenged to approach tailored evening wear with an innovative and contemporary perspective. By conducting authentic research, inspired by a chosen artist, the students designed a collection of four bespoke outfits, using handcrafted tailoring techniques and cutting-edge design processes. The project brief asked students to build an authentic client profile, creating a narrative around a person who would embody the designs. Each student was tasked with collaborating closely with their client to define a modern evening wear silhouette that reflected the Scabal brand identity. Through a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and forward-thinking design, the students were encouraged to explore innovative or classical approaches to their garments, with the final result showcasing their creativity and precision. The Scabal team had the privilege of visiting the students mid-project, witnessing the evolution of their designs firsthand. The final stage of the project culminated in a presentation where the students unveiled their fully bespoke tailored outfits. Each garment reflected an extraordinary level of skill, dedication, and a deep understanding of bespoke tailoring—making this year's theme, The Art of Luxury, truly come to life in every stitch. We are proud to support such an inspiring group of future tailoring visionaries and congratulate the students on their exceptional work. This year's winner, Klouws Harris, delivered an outstanding interpretation of the brief, with a design that seamlessly blended artistry and craftsmanship. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this project—your work reflects the passion, innovation, and excellence that define the future of bespoke tailoring. Scabal is honoured to play a role in shaping your journey, and we look forward to seeing where your creativity will take you next.

Exploring the Future of Clothing with Scabal What does the future look like? This intriguing question inspired Salvador Dali to create 12 original paintings for Scabal in 1972. As Scabal celebrated its 85th birthday, it was time to revisit this concept—not just for Scabal, but for clothing as a whole. The result is a thought-provoking book, published globally by Bloomsbury, which delves into the factors that could influence changes in our lifetime. The book is divided into three insightful sections: 1. External Factors of Change: An exploration of global developments that will impact the clothes we wear, including the discovery of new materials, wearable technologies, and the rise of gender fluidity. 2. Interviews with Opinion Leaders: Perspectives from influential figures in various fields, including Scabal's Chairman, Gregor Thissen, offering their views on the future of clothing. 3. Future Scenarios: Based on the insights gathered, this section presents possible scenarios on how the future may unfold for the fashion industry. To add an artistic dimension to this project, Scabal commissioned John Armleder to envision the future. His creation, a brass sphere with accompanying wallpaper, inspired a limited edition lining for Scabal's SS24 collection. This lining, available in lilac, purple, and dark blue, features a repeating gold pattern derived from the sculpture's wallpaper design. Discover this exclusive lining, available for a limited time, and join Scabal in exploring the future of clothing.
