💡 Great discussions on CBAM in Brussels! A big thank you to Lorenzo Livraghi from Orgalim for joining T&D Europe’s Working Group meeting yesterday and providing valuable updates on the legislation and implementation of CBAM to our members. ℹ️ CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) is the EU's tool to put a fair price on the carbon emitted during the production of carbon intensive goods that are entering the EU, and to encourage cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries. We had a great exchange on how CBAM is being applied across European industries and we will continue to follow this important topic, with a particular focus on its impact on the electricity grids industry. ⚡🚗 T&D Europe’s Vice President, Guillermo Amann, and Secretary General, Diederik Peereboom, joined Eurelectric’s EVision event in Brussels this week to explore the electrification of mobility and its role for driving the energy transition. 💡 Highlight EU Commissioner, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, in charge of Sustainable Transport and Tourism, presented the EU Action Plan for the European Automotive Industry. He stressed the Commission’s ambition to have a faster installation of charging points and their connection to electricity grids. He called this an overriding public interest, which would need to result in faster permitting.   💬 Key takeaway The electrification of mobility is an important driver for the energy transition. Infrastructure will be key to enable the electrification of Europe’s economy and society, which well help us to reduce dependency on imported fossil fuels and increase the use of clean, made-in-Europe clean electricity.
