📣 We were delighted to join EU DSO Entity for their annual event that presented their flagship project for 2024, the 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 ‘Grids Empowering Customers’ needs'. With this Technical Vision, EU DSO Entity wanted to provide a holistic and comprehensive overview of what is necessary from their perspective as DSOs to develop the future European Power Systems. 🟢The second panel of our Annual Event just started!    We are here with MEP Sigrid Friis (European Parliament), Marianna Jakab (Permanent Representation of Hungary to the European Union), Diederik Peereboom (T&D Europe ), and Board Member Luis Vale Cunha to discover the most pressing #grid/DSOs priorities while looking ahead for the next 5 years term. The session is moderated by Team Lead Elisa Schenner.    🗣️The relevance of grids in the announced European Commission’s initiatives, will remain high as confirmed by Anca-Iulia Cimpeanu. The policy direction is clear: 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒅𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒅 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 will be priorities for the European Commission!   🗣️How relevant on the European Parliament’s agenda is the topic of grids/DSOs? Member of the European Parliament Sigrid Friis provided some hints: 𝑰𝑻𝑹𝑬 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒆 will be very active and will work hard on achieving energy independence, reaching decarbonisation, speeding up electrification and boost #Competitiveness.   🗣️With the outgoing trio presidency (ES-BE-HU) - very active on grids - we discussed with Marianna Jakab if there will be continuation with the next presidency in the rotation. Marianna confirmed that #GridDevelopment is in the 𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 and it is high on Ministers' agenda. Indeed, the next Presidency will take the stock of the #GridActionPlan   🗣We asked Luis Vale Cunha if something was still missing from the EU-level from a DSO perspective to ensure the implementation of the set energy targets. Luis stressed the importance of not lagging behind and he pointed out the 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 needed for implementation and the 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒈𝒂𝒑 with the role of #AI. 🗣Diederik Peereboom concluded stating that the biggest progress of the last years is the recognition of #grids: we need to maintain that focus and receive a societal support for #grids We, in the #EUBubble, are a selected group on the forefront but we should not underestimate the 𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔. 📣Today, T&D Europe President, Jochen Kreusel, participated in the panel discussion ‘13 months after the EU Grid Action Plan’ at ENTSO-E's 15 year anniversary conference. The discussion highlighted the achievements of the past 13 months of cooperative work and emphasised the importance of continued collaboration in the future. 🏭 The audience identified manufacturing capacity as the most crucial factor. Increasing manufacturing capacity is now more critical than ever as a key enabler of the energy transition. 🚀 The first 13 months of the Grid Action Plan mark the beginning of an exciting journey, with it serving as the framework to unlock the potential of the industry for the energy transition. While there is a sense of urgency, there is also recognition that more can be done to enhance it. 🤝 Further cooperation to build a future-proof grid is on the way. Over the past months, our collaboration has tackled challenges in supply chains and procurement, setting priorities to accelerate the development and deployment of Europe's grid infrastructure. 💡 Key focus areas include: 🔹 Aligning technical approaches for HVDC and HVAC equipment. 🔹 Streamlining testing and qualification processes for critical components. 🔹 Supporting international standards and skilled workforce development. 🔹 Shaping EU procurement rules to foster flexibility and innovation. 📣 Over the last couple of days, T&D Europe members gathered in Brussels for strategic discussions and to share insights and reflect on progress, setting the groundwork for 2025 and beyond. With a packed agenda, a range of critical topics aimed at strengthening European industry and energy transition were discussed. A special thanks to our guest speakers, Kristian Ruby from Eurelectric and Peter Vermaat from EU DSO Entity, who ignited interesting discussions on future investment and activities for T&D industry in Europe.
