REQUEST TO THE TECHNOVATION COMMUNITY At Technovation Elsevier we strive to disseminate and acknowledge our research papers’ relevance by driving societal transformation, whether it be at the policymaking, administrative, managerial, or economic levels. In light of this, we encourage our colleagues, who have previously contributed to Technovation Elsevier, to inform us of the impact their paper(s) may have had. This impact could manifest through various avenues, such as informing and stimulating new policy and academic discussions, influencing the development and management of innovative technologies (e.g., patents), creating new managerial tools, influencing actions or changing the mindset of practitioners, initiating projects that engage society, or even embarking on impact activities such as public engagement in person or through media platforms. Evidence of such relevance can include, but not be limited to, reports, web links or other publicly available sources of information about organizations, including in society, industry, charities and government, that benefited from research outputs published in Technovation Elsevier, as well as statements provided by beneficiaries and empirical metrics demonstrating the impact. We would appreciate if you could please get in touch with us to provide us with further evidence. Georgina.Jiang@elsevier.com Thank you!!!

Would you like to join us in saying goodbye to November by learning about what fails and when? 🥰 A recent paper published in Technovation presents a typology of four modes of innovation failure that can arise from task and outcomes failure in the innovation process. 👏 You can find all details👇 https://lnkd.in/e7H4rDbv By: Elena Freisinger, Ian P. Sean McCarthy Research Highlights • The core premise of our paper is that a process conceptualization of innovation failure can help understand the diversity and consequences of failure. • We use process theorizing to present a model showing how two types of innovation failure (task and outcome) vary at four divergent-convergent phases ‘within’ the innovation process. • We present a typology of four modes of innovation failure and associated learning processes: unsolicited failures (prevent-alert-eliminate); hazardous failures (predict-modify-mitigate); fortuitous failures (probe-expose-extrapolate); and excursive failures (facilitate-analyze-harness). #InnovationFailure #Learning #Typology #IDEO #ProcessTheorizing

The potential of data to stimulate innovation has been largely acknowledged but, how to manage a "data-push innovation" strategy? 🤔 A recent paper published in Technovation explores this question by examining an actor that has successfully stimulated the use of Earth observation data over the last 40 years. 👋 You can find all details about the paper 👇 https://lnkd.in/dpYrKB4M By: Raphaëlle Barbier, Skander Ben Yahia, Lenfle Sylvain, Benoit Weil Research Highlights • Managing data-push innovation beyond serendipity is promising but challenging. • The paper sheds light on one possible strategy, coined “data genericity building”. • Data cannot travel across organizations like software modules to be recombined. • It involves building a “fit system” enabling data to gain meaning into multiple use contexts. • The fit system owner can stimulate ecosystem dynamics through a form of localized and non-dominant leadership.
