🎓Last week, Eliott Ramoisiaux, PhD had the opportunity to return to his former university, Université libre de Bruxelles, to give a seminar to MA2 Physics Engineering students and future Medical Physicists about Monte Carlo simulations applied to Radiation Protection. Thanks Professor Pierre-Etienne Labeau for the invitation! 🔬The session kicked off with a refresher on Monte Carlo concepts, followed by hands-on exercises where students explored proton beam interactions in a water phantom and more complex materials, assessed the neutron and gamma ambient equivalent dose rate around the target, and designed concrete shielding according to radiation protection criteria using variance reduction techniques. ☢️It was a fantastic experience to show for what type of applications TBE is using Monte Carlo techniques. 💼 Are you interested? 🧬 Innovation in nuclear is The Binding Energy’s DNA! 💡 With the support of VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship, we are developing our HYDRA code. HYDRA stands for Holistic Yield Determination and Radioactive Analysis. This code represents a modular integration of multiparticle transport and activation codes, with the goal of significantly reducing nuclear waste in the long term, and easing access to installations on the short term. With this code, we aim to help our clients even more efficiently! ☢️ Our recent innovation ‘Improved determination of activation values’ is now patent pending. ☢️ Last weekend, our TBE team held its annual business development weekend in Zeeland.
