📅 An important date to note! The European Commission has just published its 2025 Work Programme, setting the stage for key initiatives to build a stronger, more inclusive Europe. 💡One highlight: A #Roadmap for Women’s Rights is set to be unveiled ahead of International Women’s Day 2025, reinforcing commitments to gender equality, pay transparency, work-life balance, and more. Additionally, new strategies on LGBTIQ rights and anti-racism will be introduced, ensuring equality is mainstreamed across policies. We’re curious, and you? We are thrilled to announce that our advocacy team has a new co-lead! 🔥 Patrick Grady has been a volunteer with the Brussels Binder for almost two years now. Delving into the domain of work, the Gender Equality Index reveals both progress and persistent challenges.     Sweden leads with a score of 85.0, while Italy lags behind at 65.5. While nearly all countries have shown slight progress since 2021, only Croatia (+1.2) and Latvia (+1.1) have made significant gains.     Key insights from the domain of work include:  🔹 The gender employment gap remains, with more women likely in part-time jobs and spending more time out of the labour market. Part-time employment does not mean women work less. Instead, it highlights their many hours of unpaid care and domestic work.  🔹 Sectoral gender segregation is hindering progress, with women concentrated in lower-paying sectors and men dominating higher-paying fields.  🔹 Workplace violence and sexual harassment are more prevalent in sectors traditionally dominated by men, and indisputably, women are affected most.    To mobilise progress, national and workplace policies need to address gender care gaps, work–life balance and gender segregation in the labour market- and these policies need to be implemented.     📖 Read more on the Domain of Work in the Gender Equality Index 2024 here: https://lnkd.in/ec_BMV2F #GenderEqualityIndex2024 #EIGE #WorkplaceGenderEquality
