🌍 What Europe do we want? The choice is clear for us: the Europe we want is a zero waste one! But how does a zero waste Europe improve citizens' day-to-day lives? Understanding what vision and policies can lead to a sustainable, just, and equitable future for all is more important than ever. 🎞️ Our short video shows Zero Waste Europe's hopes and aspirations for a waste-free Europe, and the main steps needed to achieve this vision. As we start a new political cycle in Europe, we hope the European Parliament and European Commission will help us move closer to a zero waste future. 💪 From our side, the ZWE network commits to working every single day at the European, national, and local levels to make this a reality for everyone across the continent. 📽️ Watch the video and help us spread the word!

Empowering communities and change agents to redesign their relationship with resources: nothing and no one is disposable
About us
Zero Waste Europe was created to empower communities to rethink their relationship with resources. In a growing number of regions, local groups of individuals, businesses and city officials are taking significant steps towards eliminating waste in our society. We work towards a world where nothing and no one is disposable! Zero Waste Europe engages at two levels: • Supporting local groups with independent knowledge and streamlined tools to drive change more efficiently, • Structuring the movement internationally to better represent the interests of our communities at the EU level and engage policy makers with a unified voice. In these regards, Zero Waste Europe operates both as a knowledge network and as an advocacy group, representing active communities in 28 countries.

🔍 What happens to the mixed waste we still generate? Hello, waste experts! We all strive for diligent separate collection and separation at source, but let’s be honest -there’s still a significant fraction of mixed waste, at least from street containers. And within that, a large organic fraction remains. 🚯 So what’s the best solution? ❌ Landfilling? Legislation rightly prohibits direct landfilling without pretreatment. 🔥 Incineration? Is burning waste really the best way to pre-treat before landfilling ashes? ♻️ Or can we find a more circular approach - one that recovers recyclables, biostabilizes organics, and reduces climate impact? Join us next Wednesday, 19.02, as we tackle these questions with experts Enzo Favoino, Anna Larsson, and Marek Kabaciński. Looking forward to a great discussion! 📅 Register here: https://lnkd.in/dQdg6pDX #CircularEconomy #WasteManagement Climate & Clean Air Coalition be Waste Wise Zero Waste Europe GAIA (Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives) Fead Info European Commission European Environmental Bureau European Environment Agency Reloop

We’re very happy to announce the start of the #STICT project: Strengthening the circular implementation of circular textiles in the EU 🪡🧵 Funded by the Laudes Foundation, STICT is a two-year project that aims to bring together communities and decision-makers to establish and replicate local best practices in #textile waste management, including shaping emerging EPR systems. Over the next two years, ZWE will partner with our local members Zero Waste Belgium (BE), Zero Waste Estonia SA (EE), Ekologi brez meja / Ecologists Without Borders Association (SI), and TEXroad, experts in #textilewaste data 📈 STICT will work to identify and support solutions that transform how Europe handles textiles—unravelling the textile waste challenge one stitch at a time 🧶 Learn more via the link in the comments 👇
