Microplastics aren’t just a threat to our oceans and wildlife - they could also be making the weather worse. A recent study (more details in the first comment 👇) shows that these tiny particles, often invisible to the naked eye, are influencing cloud formation in ways we didn’t fully understand. By triggering ice crystal formation in clouds at warmer temperatures than usual, microplastics are affecting how clouds behave. This could have significant impacts on weather patterns and climate, potentially leading to more rain or snowfall and altering how clouds reflect sunlight and interact with Earth's energy balance. At Phycolabs, we are committed to reducing microplastics by providing sustainable solutions. Our seaweed fibers and yarns, as opposed to traditional plastic-based materials, helps combat the widespread issue of microplastic pollution. By choosing eco-friendly alternatives, we can not only reduce plastic waste but also help mitigate the impact on our planet’s climate. 🌎 Let’s make a change for a better future, one sustainable step at a time. #phycolabs #seaweed #environment #FromOceanToOutfit #sustainability

Creating regenerative fashion with seaweed threads, where biotech innovation meets sustainability.
Sobre nós
We believe fashion can be a force for good. Based in Brazil, we leverage the power of seaweed to create innovative and eco-friendly threads. By exclusively using sustainable seaweed in our fibers, we're redefining fashion as a regenerative force rather than a polluting one. We focus on fast-growing seaweed species to develop high-quality biofibers that are gentle on the planet. Our commitment extends beyond the material itself. We're driving industry transformation through innovative processes and research, consistently prioritizing ethical practices and transparency across our supply chain. Together, let’s create a future where style and conscience harmonize seamlessly. Join us in creating a regenerative fashion revolution. #FromOceanToOutfit

Last week, we had the honor of participating in the first panel of the Innovation in Industry Seminar, organized by Folha de S.Paulo and EMBRAPII - Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa e Inovação Industrial (Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation). The discussion focused on the critical relationship between industry and sustainability. 🌎 We’d like to extend our gratitude to the organizers and to SEBRAE and CNI - Confederação Nacional da Indústria, for the invitation. It’s essential to explore ways for small and medium-sized businesses to access research and development resources, which are often concentrated within large corporations. You can watch the full seminar in PT here: https://lnkd.in/d9mbnVJj And read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/dE7QwEfC #phycolabs #seaweed #environment #FromOceanToOutfit #sustainability

At Phycolabs, we're diving deep into a sustainable future. By harnessing the incredible potential of seaweed, we're not only transforming the textile industry but also actively contributing to the restoration of our planet. 🌍 Seaweed grows at remarkable rates, regenerating ecosystems and significantly reducing carbon emissions. But it's more than just a renewable resource, it's a powerful solution that bridges nature, science, and industry. With the growing global population putting immense pressure on our natural environment, bioresources are becoming increasingly scarce. However, research, such as Natural Resources Conservation and Advances for Sustainability (link below 👇), addresses the latest challenges in managing and conserving natural resources and highlights the socio-economic and ecological importance of seaweed farming, which contributes to the sustainable development of society. Let’s weave a future where the ocean is both our inspiration and our solution. We’re excited to share that our founder, Thamires Pontes, has won the "Women in Science" category at this week's Geração Glamour Awards, hosted by Glamour Brasil . We couldn’t be happier! Check out her post! 🏆
Ainda estou digerindo a emoção e a alegria dessa noite. Com amor, Thami 💖✨ -- The Geração Glamour Award, promoted by Glamour Brasil magazine, has been celebrating women who make a difference in various fields for 10 years. This year’s theme, 'Voices Beyond Time,' highlights the importance of looking to the future with courage and resilience. #WomenOfTheYear Last night, I had the pleasure of receiving the award in the Women in Science category. I'm still processing the excitement and joy of the evening. As one of my favorite authors, Baruck Spinosa, says: 'All great things are rare and difficult.' I didn’t start yesterday or even a month ago; this has been a dream of mine since 2016. Even after eight years, I feel that I’m still at the beginning. This recognition reaffirms that I’m on the right path. Science in Brazil, especially science led by women, is often overlooked. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be: never accept 'no' as the final answer. Persist, because our voices and our science deserve to be heard. Thank you to the #Phycolabs team and to all our supporters, who make this journey possible.
