Areva Living is honored to spearhead the redevelopment of the historic 1927 Columbia Theatre in downtown New Westminster. The City of New Westminster is currently in the early stages of considering our application, which includes the heritage revitalization of the theatre within a new +/-30-storey tower featuring a mix of hotel, restaurant, cafe and residential dwelling units. The hotel is envisioned to be operated under a Marriott Hotels franchise. This project beautifully merges the past and the future, preserving the rich history of the Theatre as the centre of a once busting Columbia street, while introducing new opportunities for our community. Highlights include: 🔷 Heritage Preservation: We are committed to restoring the theatre to its historic charm by salvaging, and recreating many of its unique interior design elements, including the atmospheric ceiling and a lobby inspired by the now rediscovered original design drawings. The original façade, marquee and vertical light bulb sign are also anticipated to be lovingly restored. 🔷 Community Enrichment: The new theatre, located at the base of the tower, is expected to continue to serve as a cultural hub, offering a multi-purpose venue for the community. 🔷 Sustainable Growth: The project will create a harmonious blend of old and new, featuring a hotel, retail spaces, and 216 residential units designed to meet the needs of a wide range of future residents seeking housing options across the housing spectrum, including young professionals, couples, and seniors.
