We couldn’t be prouder of the Senft family for their remarkable contributions to advancing cancer research and care in B.C.
A heartfelt congratulations to the Senft family as the well-deserved recipients of the National Philanthropy Day 2024 Spirit of Generosity Award. After an aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis in his early 60s, a disease that claimed his father’s life, Rod Senft selflessly stewarded his family in making transformational change. Through their family foundation, they established the Senft Family Hub of Genomic Science in Prostate Cancer Fund and have generously given to help bring life-saving early detection and treatment technology to communities across B.C. Grateful for the care Rod received at BC Cancer, and spurred on by his desire to see his daughter get married and watch his grandchildren grow, Rod and his wife Jeannie inspired the next generation, their children Riley, Derek and Lauren, to become catalysts in advancing cancer research and care in B.C In 2011, Riley ambitiously ran across Canada and raised more than $1 million to advance prostate cancer research and care in B. C. As a member of the BC Cancer Foundation’s Beyond Belief Campaign Cabinet, Lauren is driving the Foundation's efforts in achieving a groundbreaking $500 million fundraising goal. We are grateful to the Senft family for their vision and leadership, and for sharing their very personal cancer journey to inspire their community to support other families in B.C facing cancer. This recognition is a testament to the power of philanthropy, and one family’s mission to create positive change.

This shared space was designed to foster communal experiences—whether it's collaborating on new projects, celebrating achievements, supporting each other in our individual development, or indulging in Pancake Tuesdays. This project has been in the works for a while, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s a reminder that working with great partners lays the foundation for success. A big thank you to McKinley Studios, Turner Construction Company, and Xprt Integration for turning this vision into reality. A special shoutout to our stunning Eden-Valders Stone limestone wall, which creates an impressive welcome for our guests. Tricor Pacific Capital Inc. is thrilled to see our partner Areva Living take on the redevelopment of the historic 1927 Columbia Theatre in downtown New Westminster. Exciting times are ahead for the city, as this project beautifully blends rich history with modern opportunities.
Areva Living is honored to spearhead the redevelopment of the historic 1927 Columbia Theatre in downtown New Westminster. The City of New Westminster is currently in the early stages of considering our application, which includes the heritage revitalization of the theatre within a new +/-30-storey tower featuring a mix of hotel, restaurant, cafe and residential dwelling units. The hotel is envisioned to be operated under a Marriott Hotels franchise. This project beautifully merges the past and the future, preserving the rich history of the Theatre as the centre of a once busting Columbia street, while introducing new opportunities for our community. Highlights include: 🔷 Heritage Preservation: We are committed to restoring the theatre to its historic charm by salvaging, and recreating many of its unique interior design elements, including the atmospheric ceiling and a lobby inspired by the now rediscovered original design drawings. The original façade, marquee and vertical light bulb sign are also anticipated to be lovingly restored. 🔷 Community Enrichment: The new theatre, located at the base of the tower, is expected to continue to serve as a cultural hub, offering a multi-purpose venue for the community. 🔷 Sustainable Growth: The project will create a harmonious blend of old and new, featuring a hotel, retail spaces, and 216 residential units designed to meet the needs of a wide range of future residents seeking housing options across the housing spectrum, including young professionals, couples, and seniors. We believe in honoring the past while building a brighter future, and this redevelopment embodies our values perfectly.
