During last Friday’s TRAN Committee Meeting (number 145), Mr. Michael Deluce, CEO of Porter Airlines Inc., and other airline CEOs did an excellent job of explaining various aviation system-related fees. These industry leaders also conveyed very clearly that the so-called “user-pay” model is somewhat of a misnomer as the Federal Government recovers more money from various aviation-related rents and fees than it invests back into the system. It’s time for the Government to promote a competitive and sustainable aviation sector. Check out the links below: https://lnkd.in/ewC9Zrqt https://lnkd.in/e6YXq_ER

ATAC was delighted to learn about Ms. Tracy Medve’s induction into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame for 2025. Ms. Medve was recognized as an ATAC Lifetime Honoree in 2010 and this new honor bestowed upon her makes us very proud here at ATAC. Fantastic! Fantastique !

Eight years after Minister Garneau tabled in Parliament the Canada Transportation Act (CTA) Review Report, the Canadian aviation sector is still battling uncompetitive elements of the Canadian air travel system. The report’s recommendations have gone nowhere. Today, the Federal Government is working on a proposal to the Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR) regime that would add significant costs to air travel in Canada.
