As part of National Indigenous History Month, Conuma is honoured to share the stories and experiences of Jonah Demeulemeester, a member of the Desjarlais family and part of the Saulteau First Nations. Together with his dad, Jonah operates Demeulemeester & Sons Contracting Inc., a company that has been instrumental in preparing Conuma’s Quintette Mine for restart. Conuma is proud of our strong partnership with Demeulemeester & Sons Contracting Inc. and 4 Evergreen Resources, which is owned by the Saulteau First Nations. Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, Conuma is honoured to profile Alycia Aird, a proud member of Saulteau First Nations and the General Manager of Aski Reclamation LP. Established in 2019, ASKI Reclamation is owned and operated by Saulteau First Nations, providing reclamation and environmental services within Treaty 8 territory. Alycia and the ASKI team play a crucial role in Conuma’s business through performing environmental and reclamation monitoring. Alycia shares the significance of being Indigenous and managing an Indigenous-owned company, stating, “It reminds me of this quote that guides me at work, ‘If you find yourself on a committee discussing the needs of a particular group of people, but you look around the room and don’t see anyone from that group, you should be highly skeptical of any conclusions you have reached.’” It is an honour to work with and learn from Alycia and the ASKI team. We look forward to many more years of collaboration and growth. #NIHM2024 #ConumaStrong #ConumaResources
