Yesterday, EDW hosted Strategic Foreign Direct Investment for Manitoba: Ensuring Economic Prosperity, in partnership with Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada (GAC), the Trade Commissioner Service | Service des délégués commerciaux, and the Government of Manitoba. Thank you to our speakers—EDW's own Alberto Velasco-Acosta, Christine Perrin, and Ryan Kuffner, as well as Alexandre Côté, Jonathon Kupi and Bernard Li—for their insights on FDI opportunities, challenges, and the importance of collaboration. Key points discussed: - Manitoba’s talent is a driving factor for investment. - Promoting our province’s strengths globally is essential. - Collaboration across all sectors strengthens economic growth. As Minister Jamie Moses said, “When businesses invest in Manitoba, they invest in its people.” Together, we can position Manitoba as a leader in attracting investment.

The recent U.S. election results have Manitobans reflecting on potential impacts close to home. Our CEO, Ryan Kuffner, along with other community leaders, shared insights with the Winnipeg Free Press about how shifts in U.S. policy might influence Manitoba's economy, particularly in areas like trade and agriculture. 'We need to make sure that we frame the importance of our relationship (with the U.S.) in the areas the U.S. cares about,' Ryan emphasized, highlighting the significance of positioning Manitoba within North American supply chains in food, energy and defence.
