Our Village of Glencoe Board of Trustees meeting agenda was particularly heavy with consequential items this week. As I shared during my report at the meeting, these items represented hundreds upon hundreds of hours of staff work, Village Board and commission review and discussion and tons of resident engagement. Also, by a fluke of calendaring, three of our most important planning documents were all approved in one night: ✅ The Village’s $59 million #budget, along with a 10-year #CIP totalling over $100 million (kudos Nikki Larson, CPA, CPFO, SPHR and our departments for doing so much heavy lifting 💪) ✅ A new three year #StrategicPlan, facilitated and developed in partnership with CP2 Consulting and Cory Poris Plasch and a new partnership with Envisio to help us share the #StratPlan story ✅ Our new #ComprehensivePlan, the culmination of nearly 2.5 years of work between staff (here’s looking at you Taylor Baxter, AICP) and the Teska Associates, Inc. team including Lee Brown and Francesca S. Lawrence, AICP, along with our excellent #PlanCommission and dozens and dozens of residents We also underscored partnerships with other governments like the Glencoe Public Library and the Forest Preserves of Cook County by approving new agreements, solidified our community support network through a right-sized agreement with Family Service of Glencoe, doubled down on a long-standing shared service model with MGP Inc. (Municipal GIS Partners, Inc.) to leverage Office 365 for business process improvement. I’m always awed by what our staff, community volunteers and partners can accomplish, but this meeting’s bredth of scope surprised even me. Truly, what a great way to end 2024! 🙌🎉👏
