  • Rest is community care. Rest is a feminist act. Rest is resistance. Beginning today, the Equality Fund virtual office will be closed until January 6, 2025, as our team prioritizes rest and well-being to recharge and refuel for the work ahead. We will not be monitoring our social media channels during this time. We will be back online in January and look forward to reconnecting with our communities then. We draw inspiration from Tricia Hersey, Founder of the Nap Ministry, whose visionary work reminds us that “Rest is Resistance.” Learn more about Tricia’s work at https://lnkd.in/eFNMjUaC and continue to share how you incorporate rest and care into your work. All of us at the Equality Fund wish you rest—and joy—as the year draws to a close.

The #AWIDForum2024 has come and gone, but questions about how we immediately resource our movements while dreaming of more abundant futures still reverberate. We left Bangkok with a clear mandate to co-conspire with our allies across the funding ecosystem with urgency, tenacity and collaboration as the magic tools in our collective box. We leave you these final thoughts, analyses and reflections as we close off the year, as well this quote from our “Talking Money” session at the AWID Forum: 💡 “This is the moment we were built for. We are back in a moment where gender equality funding is on the chopping block. We need to be ready and seize on the advocacy of the past and political windows when they open. We need to build public support. The impact of these decisions will impact women and girls and we need people to understand that. Remember that ODA (Official Development Assistance) is our money, tax-payers money, how do we make people understand how to use it.” - Katharine Im-Jenkins, Equality Fund 1. Chief Growth Officer at Spring Activator | Advisor | Board Director | MBA | BIV Top 40 Under 40 | Helping Entrepreneurs & Investors create sustainable impact at scale

Huge thank you to all the #impact investors and aspiring impact #investors who contributed to the energy at Spring Collective's Year End Investor Social! One of the questions Caroline von Hirschberg asked as moderator to the powerhouse panel representing InBC Investment Corp., B.C. Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), Sitka Foundation, and the Equality Fund was "What is your physical manifestation of "impact"?": - Jill Earthy described a tree; impact needs strong roots and relies on an ecosystem to grow strong. - Sarah Goodman pictured a barbell; impact is hard the first time, but creating more impact gets easier with more reps and consistency. - Carolynn Beaty envisioned a notebook with a mix of drawings, notes, and words, because impact is all things to different people. - Kerry Dyer Shillito, CFRE illustrated a loom; impact is taking what we have from nature and creating something stronger, together. It was an inspiring way to end the year and begin the conversations of what creating change might look like in 2025! For those who couldn’t join us in #Vancouver, there’s still an opportunity! Meet Nathan Percy, Keith Ippel, Allison Gibson, and Neema Rimber in #Toronto this Monday, December 16th: RSVP here before it’s too late: https://lu.ma/m60l92gu ! • 💰 The "Great Wealth Transfer" is here! Over the next 40 years, $41 trillion will shift to Gen X and millennials, with women inheriting 70% of this wealth. This moment isn’t just about money—it’s about power to drive progress on gender equality. 🌍 ✨ At the Equality Fund, we’re seizing this opportunity with a dual strategy: ✅ Bold, flexible grants—$100M already moved to 1,000+ feminist organizations across 100 countries. ✅ A gender-lens investment portfolio—$29M generated (so far!) to sustain and grow our grant-making impact. By combining philanthropy with values-driven investment, we’re proving that how we use resources matters. Together, these approaches multiply impact, empower feminist movements, and bring us closer to a just, equitable future. 💪 Interested in learning more? As $41 trillion in assets shift to Generation X and millennials over the coming decades as part of a #GreatWealthTransfer, women are set to inherit an unprecedented share—70% of this wealth. This economic shift presents a unique opportunity to reshape the future of philanthropy and investment strategies, but stewardship of the next generation of philanthropists needs to look at how philanthropy goes hand in hand with impact investing. In a new Philanthropy Impact piece, Vidya Nair and Jacqueline Ovens from our partner the Equality Fund explore why gender-lens investing is a crucial model for the future of philanthropy, drawing on the Equality Fund's work in shaping, influencing, and growing the funding for the local changemakers and movements powering progress towards gender equality from the ground up. 🔗 Read the full article, linked in the comments below ⬇️ #GenderLensInvesting #ImpactInvesting #Changemakers

  • We were grateful to join the Equal Voice 100 Years Gala to commemorate the century long journey of women’s representation in Canadian politics. This was a chance to be in community with ground-breaking women around the world, including the Honourable Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia and the first elected female head of state in Africa.
