As we reflect on the past year’s #successes and #memorablemoments, we have so much to be #grateful for and recognize that not everyone is as fortunate, so this holiday season we have decided to participate in a variety of charitable initiatives to uphold our #commitment of #givingback to the #communities in which we do business. Gillam is proud to donate to the Toronto Professional Firefighters' Association - Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive and the Daily Bread Food Bank. We also made monetary donations to Daily Bread Food Bank of Toronto, Barrie Food Bank and the The Food Bank of Waterloo Region As part of a new, more personal initiative this year, Gillam is pleased to sponsor two families through the #Centre55 Share a Christmas Program. This program connects sponsors directly with families, who together develop a list of items (including food, clothing, toys, health and hygiene products, etc...) needed to sustain them over the holiday season, ensuring that everyone can experience the magic of Christmas. We are thrilled to break ground on 35 Bellevue, a 78-unit, 6 storey mass timber #affordablehousing project in the heart of #KensingtonMarket. This is one of two affordable housing projects for which Gillam is currently serving as design-builder as part of the City of Toronto ‘s Rapid Housing Initiative. The results are in and Gillam has surpassed this year's goals. Gillam placed third in the 2024 Construction Challenge with a total amount of $54,548, punching well above our weight. Our President Craig Lesurf nailed the top individual fundraiser spot with an incredible grand total of $45,100, which also placed him in 6th place for all of Canada and 16th place worldwide. We would like to welcome Maurice John to the Gillam team as a new Health and Safety Coordinator. He is currently enrolled at Seneca Polytechnic on a part-time basis in his pursuit of his Occupational Health and Safety Certificate. With over 5 years in the industry, Maurice's experience spans from being a scaffolder, carpenter, drywaller, as well as a Health and Safety Advisor in the ICI and residential sectors.
