“…the Haisla Nation, with our partner Pembina, have made history as the world’s first Indigenous community to develop an LNG facility as majority owners. Because of our Nation’s determination and environmental leadership, Cedar LNG will make the most significant mark on economic reconciliation ever in our country. With Cedar LNG, we have proven that Indigenous communities can successfully forge a path to economic independence and generational prosperity. We have created a model for how sustainable energy development should be done, with Indigenous Nations as owners, balancing environmental interests with global demand for cleaner energy." – Crystal Smith, Chief Councillor of the Haisla Nation. #cedarlng #pembinapipeline #HaislaNation #CanadianLNG #arcresources Pembina Pipeline Corporation Haisla Nation ARC Resources Ltd.

🌱 Introducing yáqʷa: A New Chapter for Haisla Nation. We are proud to announce yáqʷa, a transformative initiative by the Haisla Nation that leverages our traditional territory’s abundant resources—resources that have sustained our people for generations through food, shelter, and livelihood. We aim to harness these economic opportunities that not only respect but also protect the waters and wildlife that define our community. Our approach is centered on smart, sustainable economic development. We're committed to realizing significant economic benefits that do not compromise but enhance our environmental resources. This initiative represents our dedication to bringing about the positive changes we desire, delivering timely benefits to our people. 🤝 Join Our Journey We invite you to join us as we navigate our past, present, and future, sharing the journey with those who honor and uphold our values. Cedar LNG today announced that it has issued a Notice to Proceed to the engineering, procurement, and construction contractors following the finalization of long-term commercial offtake agreements. These critical milestones allow the project to proceed to secure financing, which is required prior to making a final investment decision, expected by the middle of 2024. “Today’s achievements mark an exciting time for our Nation as we seek to make Cedar LNG – the world’s lowest carbon and first Indigenous majority-owned LNG Facility – a reality in the coming months,” said Crystal Smith, Chief Councillor for Haisla Nation. “I am incredibly grateful to our Nation, all levels of government, Pembina and all our partners who have supported our journey to advance a project that protects our environmental and cultural values, while delivering prosperity for decades to come.” https://lnkd.in/ddT-pkPB #CedarLNG #HaislaNation #PembinaPipeline #ARCResources Haisla Nation Pembina Pipeline Corporation ARC Resources Ltd.
