Early-stage accelerator for non-technical, marginalized and BIPOC women, who want to build tech-enabled businesses.

About us

At Mosaic, we believe that non-technical, women founders from marginalized, racialized, and underrepresented communities have the potential to be some of the most innovative and impactful entrepreneurs in the world. We are dedicated to providing these women with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to build and grow successful, sustainable, tech-enabled businesses. Tech-enabled businesses leverage technology to create and deliver innovative products or services, e.g., by streamlining operations and automating processes. These companies often disrupt traditional industries by offering new business models and solutions to customers through advanced technologies. Our 9-month Mosaic Accelerator program includes: - Group and 1-on-1 Mentorship from BIPOC and non-BIPOC industry experts and experienced entrepreneurs, - Online training, education, workshops, and networking, - No-code / low-code technology architecture and development tools and guidance, - Business, digital marketing, and operational resources, and - Funding opportunities. We help our participants overcome the technology and business challenges faced by Black, Indigenous, Latin, Asian, transgender, neurodivergent, women with disabilities, and immigrant women. By empowering women from all backgrounds, we create a more just and prosperous society for all.

HUGE shoutout to Mariah Levin for bringing this to our attention and THANKS to all the report sponsors and market researchers - Cartier Women's Initiative, School of Management Fribourg (HEG-FR), Frank & Eileen™ Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership, and Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi)! #WomenEntrepreneurs #Entrepreneurship #WomenSupportingWomen #MarketResearch #MosaicAccelerator

👏 👏 👏 to organizations are working to increase the 2% of investment funds currently going to female founders. With women representing half the population, but only contributing 37% of GDP, unlocking the right support for women-led companies offers incredible potential for the global economy. Some insights from the Women’s Entrepreneurship Report the particularly struck me: 📚 Globally, women entrepreneurs tend to be more educated than men, with higher levels of graduate education 👩👦 One in five women reported business exit due to family reasons, about 43% more often than men. 📉 Almost three in four women (72.9%) report becoming entrepreneurs because of job scarcity

  • We LOVE this post👇🏽 by Dr. Danielle Cox about the “Aging Paradox”. We also LOVE Linda N. Spencer‘s comment to “Keep your circle LARGE and multi-generational, with everyone in your circle learning and sharing.” At Mosaic Accelerator, MOST of our founders are between 35 - 60 years old! It’s NEVER too late to start again! So, what are YOU doing to “Use your now”?! 🤔 #Entrepreneurship #WomenSupportingWomen #MosaicAccelerator

We have a strange and unproductive relationship with aging in this country. We spend the first half of people’s lives telling them they don’t have enough experience or that their input is less valuable because of time. Then we spend the second half of people’s careers telling them that they have less to contribute because of time. All the while, time is moving on. And we are wasting time contemplating time when we should be pursuing our dreams. If you are here on this app, reading this post, I want you to hear something: Use your time. Use your now. Don’t worry about if you’re too young or too old. You have now. #blackwomeninnonprofitsmatter

Is your business moat an illusion if competitors can replicate your SaaS in days? This post from Reuven Cohen poses some big questions for folks building tech products. If anyone can replicate your product quickly, does that mean your real competitive edge lies in customer relationships, investor access, and market traction? Is the future of startups more about human connections than technical innovation? What do you think?

In a world where anyone can build anything or copy anything from anyone, we are reaching a point where the only moat you have is not technical. It's everything else that matters when building and scaling your startup. The real competitive edge lies in access to customers, investors, and traction—components that require genuine human interaction and relationship-building. The technical barrier has significantly lowered; the ability to build a random SaaS site in a few days or even weeks means that anyone else who knows how to ask the right questions, architect, and deploy can replicate your application quickly. So, in essence, your startup has no technical moat. This shift underscores the importance of focusing on the broader ecosystem of your business. It's not just about creating a product but about integrating it into the market in a way that is deeply embedded in networks of trust, reputation, and customer relationships. Building a technical product is no longer the hardest part—it's everything else that matters, and that is where your focus should be.

  • A FANTASTIC STARTUP STRATEGY & APPROACH OUTLINED BY Greg Isenberg!👇🏽 Mosaic Accelerator has been promoting / teaching this same approach since the start - primarily because capital has NOT been available to intersectional, non-technical, women founders AND because women are EXCELLENT at building communities! 😊 In fact, we call it a “MARKET-product Fit Strategy”, where the market / community development significantly LEADS / PRECEDES product development! Who else is following a similar approach?! ❇️ Interested in our approach?! Please feel free to reach out! ❇️ #Entrepreneurship #WomenInTech #Startups #MosaicAccelerator

CEO of Late Checkout, a portfolio of internet companies

I've built an 8 figure holding company with $0 of outside capital called Late Checkout. Today, I’ll share our playbook: Step 1: Find audience We focus on influential, high value customer audiences. We’re like the anti-Mr.Beast. Less glory but I’m okay with it. We get ideas for those on what’s trending on places like Reddit and X. We use automation and AI to get those insights quickly and clearly. We observe what’s beginning to take off. Write it down. And most importantly, we ask "why now". Our most successful businesses had a strong why now. We write these ideas in our idea pages within Notion. Review it weekly. Step 2: social account Instead of building a product that we sell first, we begin with a social account. Counter-intuitive, I know. But our thesis is that distribution is harder than building a product. We look at what other accounts in the space are doing. And try to do the opposite. The opposite is an important point because you're trying to create "scroll stopping" content. If it looks like everything else, they'll keep scrolling. Tactically, that might mean going more visual. Or telling stories that aren’t told. We get good at finding that format. And only focus on 1 platform. Multiple platforms at this stage is a distraction. Step 3: grow account We wait until we get to 10,000 followers before we usually build anything. In B2B, if you have 10,000 followers, you're the Mr. Beast of your category. 10,000 potential customers is massive. Each platform has unique ways to grow. We’re particularly excited about You Tube right now. The “hack” right now is longer form, more raw videos and posting daily. Step 4: Free community People don’t want another community. But they do want value. We overload them with value in exchange for their email/number. What’s worked really well is creating communities around “challenges”. Example: Join the 90 day keto challenge. Best part of this step is having this group of customers tell you what to build. And if you don't want to build a community, that's okay. Build a bunch of lead magnets. Step 5: Build a product We don’t spend more than 30 days to build a product. Start small. Sometimes we’ll partner with existing business here. Or incubate something very small with a leading founder who's been in this space before. This has worked well. Step 6: Product/market fit. Now, product/market fit starts hitting and high fives all around. Copycats come in. But it’s okay. We keep going. The community keeps telling us what to build. And we’ve got systems in places to build quickly, test, learn and make it beautiful. It compounds all of it. The audience, the community, the product. Step 7: the future Once the product is really at product/market fit. We start thinking about adjacent products. We either buy/incubate those. That's the basic playbook. Hope it was helpful. Tomorrow, I'm co-hosting a live workshop on finding your audience https://lu.ma/05esbrvx
