During her time with us, Shannon not only demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication but also became an integral part of the team, proving that resilience and determination pave the way for success. Her journey to this achievement is nothing short of inspiring. From her beginnings in Office Administration to embracing the Electrical trade, Shannon’s career has taken her across some significant projects, including Long Harbour, Soldiers Pond, and Hebron. Her passion for her craft, combined with her hard work ethic, has led her to where she is today—working toward her Red Seal certification and breaking barriers in the trades. 💪 Shannon’s words say it all: "I credit my ambition and determination to my Dad, who taught me to work hard, take pride in my work, and always strive to be the best. #PenneconProjectProfile - Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion Project ✨ We are proud to highlight the Pennecon-Liannu team’s ability to execute large-scale projects like the Voisey’s Bay Mine Expansion (VBME). Managing the project, our team, alongside contractor partner Emish - Black and MacDonald, celebrate the milestones we've reached since our arrival in October 2019. It has been a testament to our team's dedication, skill, & commitment to excellence. Milestones: 🔸213 Subsystems Delivered: Our team has successfully turned over 213 subsystems, playing a crucial role in the expansion of the operations. 🔸10,000+ Quality Verification Documents (QVDs) Completed: Over the course of the project, we've completed more than 10,000 QVDs, ensuring the highest standards of quality & safety in every aspect of our work. 🔸2.5 Million Hours Without an LTI: Our crews have worked tirelessly, clocking over 2.5 million hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI), a remarkable achievement that underscores our commitment to safety. 🔸Industry-Leading Safety Record: At the end of the project, our site’s Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) stood at 0.16, well below the industry standard. 🔸At the peak of the project, we employed 800~ skilled trade workers on-site, and 120 staff. Highlights ⭐️ 🔸We successfully erected the 190’ x 92’ foot Paste Plant, the 100’ x 60’ foot Booster Station, and the 40’ x 30’ foot Mill Expansion, along with all piping, mechanical and electrical systems for each building. 🔸The momentum continued with the successful completion of the Port Silo project. The four Silo’s were each 47’ in diameter and 146’ tall along with air system to offload product from the boat & load out system. This scope also included the 110’ x 24’ foot Truck Load Out building & a 30’x26’ foot Cement Pump building. 🔸The teams constructed the 180’ x 90’ foot Vehicle Service Bay Expansion. This was completed with piping, electrical & mechanical systems, and tie ins for piping & electrical to the existing service bay. 🔸The Reid Brook and Eastern deep Powerhouses, were supplied and erected by our project team, including the completion of all piping, mechanical & electrical scopes. This also included completion of module piping, fuel tanks, & pumphouses. 🔸We also completed the Reid Brook and Eastern Deeps Fan scopes. This included the completion for the fresh air fans & return air fans to ensure air flow to the underground mines.. It was a lot of work over a multi year period. We thank our client, Vale, for placing their trust in our team & their support. Thanks to our contractor partner Emish - Black and MacDonald. We also thank the local Indigenous communities for working cooperatively with us, the respective Building Trade Unions & all of our project employees for their continued dedication and expertise to complete the work, while travelling and working away from family and friends for extended periods of time. This week, members of our Pennecon team attended the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business Indigenous Relations Forum & Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) Awards in Calgary! It was an inspiring day full of powerful speakers, insightful panels, and roundtable discussions around the PAIR process and the impact of accreditation. We’re surrounded by a diverse network of passionate professionals who are united in their commitment to fostering change and building meaningful partnerships. 🤝 A special highlight was our very own Erin Hickey, who took the stage as a panelist on “Applying the Framework,” demonstrating the importance of sharing and learning to advance our collective goals. We were #PenneconProud to witness Erin’s expertise and leadership on display! We’re #PenneconProud to have Sargent as a subcontractor on this Milltown Dam Removal Project; restoring 10 miles of the St. Croix River between Maine and New Brunswick. 🌊 This initiative marks a major milestone—the first-ever dam removal in international waters, according to New Brunswick Power. This project will not only improve habitats for sea-run fish species but also open up the river for recreational use.
