Port Halifax

Harbour watchers in Halifax saw an unusual sight this week as a barge full of cranes made its way through the Narrows. PSA Halifax, our container terminal operator here at the Port of Halifax, moved four Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) Cranes and four front-end loaders from the Atlantic Hub container terminal to the Fairview Cove terminal. The relocation follows the arrival of eight Electric RTGs for Atlantic Hub earlier this year. The move will enhance safety, productivity, and reliability at Fairview Cove, and is the next step to get the E-RTGs ready for operations at Atlantic Hub. Le déménagement améliorera la sécurité, la productivité et la fiabilité à Fairview Cove, et constitue la prochaine étape pour que les E-RTG soient prêts à opérer à Atlantic Hub. It was great to gather with our marine partners to celebrate the season together at the Mission to Seafarers Annual Holiday Luncheon. The event was filled with festive cheer, meaningful conversations, and a shared commitment to care for seafarers. We were on the road last month visiting customers in the U.S. Midwest including stops in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. It’s always good to meet in person and hear first-hand what our customers need. Our customers in the Midwest value the Port of Halifax’s connectivity and total transit time advantages with markets in Europe and Asia. /// Nous étions sur la route le mois dernier pour rendre visite à nos clients dans le Midwest américain, notamment dans l'Illinois, le Minnesota et le Wisconsin. On November 28, 2024, the Halifax Port Authority, in cooperation with Transport Canada and other stakeholders, will conduct an emergency training exercise from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at locations in and around  Halifax Harbour. Please note this is a drill, and only authorized personnel will be allowed in the exercise areas.
