Mark your calendars, because Project Agape is delighted to announce a very exciting event coming up in the new year ☀️ Àdúró is an Ondo Yoruba term which means community, and it’s the spirit of this upcoming event. The event will feature talented Black queer creatives from our Black Joy and Healing Project who will perform original works that explore identity, resilience, and joy. A brunch will be served by one of Ottawa’s best chefs, whose menu has been thoughtfully designed to complement Àdúró. The afternoon will continue with an engaging panel discussion featuring community leaders and community members who bring fresh perspectives to contemporary experiences. During the event, guests will also have an opportunity to explore our silent auction featuring items from amazing community supporters, and will be able to participate in an exciting raffle draw to win prizes. Both the auction and raffle showcase generous donations from local businesses that support our work, with all proceeds directly supporting our community programs. This event is funded by The Enchante Network and is free to all folks! Please note that this is a dry event. For the safety of attendees of this event, only attendees with tickets will be let into the space. Project Agape is a Black-led organization that focuses on education on all components of gender-based violence. We also work to promote wellness to survivors in our community and build a community that is knowledgeable about gender-based violence and advocates for survivors. Some the initiatives we do involve workshops such as educational and wellness workshops for survivors such as trauma sensitive yoga, sharing circles where we unpack trauma and healing strategies and care package support with hygiene and wellness essentials for survivors.

December 17 is the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, a day created to call attention to the hate crimes and abuse faced by sex workers. On this day, we bring awareness to the anti-trans hate faced by sex workers, especially Black sex workers, trans sex workers and migrant sex workers, who are further marginalized and vulnerable due to compound oppression. Today and everyday, we honour, we remember, and we advocate loudly for the basic rights of sex workers to have safe, secure work environments. • • • #projectagape #projectagapeca #internationaldaytoendviolenceagainstsexworkers #advocacy

The last day of 16 Days of Activism Against GBV is also Human Rights Day. In the work we do, and through this letter, Project Agape continues to call on Canadian decision-makers, policymakers, business leaders, and civil society to meaningfully support Black survivors, in the ways we have asked you to. We hope you enjoyed our efforts over the course of 16 Days of Activism Against GBV, and gained some valuable information and insights about this insidious epidemic. • • • #projectagape #genderbasedviolenceawareness #16daysofactivism #projectagapeca #blacklove #loveheals #financialliteracy #womensupportingwomen #16daysofactivismagainstgenderbasedviolence #awareness #activism #education #calltoaction #survivorsupport #allyship #funding #justicesystem #humanrightsday

This year, the theme for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is #NoExcuse. But this is not just about calling out violence and harm during this time, but encouraging true allyship and support all the time. Read on to find out more about this theme and what it means for action and activism against gender-based violence. We invite everyone to examine the ways that GBV manifests in their lives, and the ways that we can come together to end it. • • • #projectagape #genderbasedviolenceawareness #16daysofactivism #noexcuse

November 25th marks the beginning of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. It also makes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. On this day, we are sharing how we as a community can and must acknowledge and make space for Black survivors. But allyship and solidarity are not limited to today, or to the 16 days of this campaign. It is work we need to do everyday. Project Agape will be observing these 16 days by educating our members and ourselves on the various ways Gender-Based Violence (GBV) manifests worldwide. We invite everyone to examine the ways that GBV manifests in their lives, and the ways that we can come together to end it. • • • #projectagape #genderbasedviolenceawareness #16daysofactivism
