Employee Spotlight : Leonard Liu When Leonard Liu was considering studying abroad, Canada wasn’t even on his radar. Hailing from Yunnan Province in southwest China, Leonard initially envisioned himself heading to the UK. But life had other plans—ones that led him 12,000 km away to Cape Breton Island. Since joining Protocase's Engineering and Design team nearly seven years ago, Leonard’s journey has been one of hard work, resilience, and remarkable growth. This dedication was recently recognized as Leonard received the 2024 Pinnacle Award—an honor reserved for team members who exemplify innovation, leadership, volunteerism, and an unwavering commitment to their colleagues. Leonard’s path wasn’t easy. After earning his first degree in Beijing, he worked as a computer technician in Yunnan. Eager to grow, he pursued further studies at Cape Breton University, balancing coursework with part-time jobs—from delivering newspapers to working in a fish plant. His expertise in electronics, problem-solving mindset, and positive spirit made him a perfect fit for Protocase, where he continues to thrive today.
