This number likely underrepresents the true scope as many cases go unreported. 79% of the reports were from women, 21% from men. When Amanda’s husband was injured and unable to work, she stood by him through the long months of recovery and financial strain. But his frustration soon turned to anger, and Amanda faced abuse and violence. – Approximately 1 in 3 women in Canada are abused – Fearing for her life and her children’s wellbeing, Amanda made a brave decision one late December day: to leave everything behind and seek a safer future.
