A new study by Q-CTRL highlights a breakthrough in quantum error correction (QEC) techniques, offering a practical approach to reducing errors in quantum systems without the heavy resource demands of traditional methods. Key achievements include: 💥 Generating the largest-ever 75-qubit Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state with just nine ancilla qubits. 💥 Achieving over 85% gate fidelity across 40 lattice sites—without requiring additional ancilla qubits. 💥 Combining QEC primitives with error suppression for a hybrid strategy that reduces errors while conserving resources. This approach balances error correction with practical hardware constraints, bringing us closer to scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing on current-generation processors. The Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), 台灣半導體研究中心 (TSRI) is acquiring its first full-stack quantum computer, the IQM Spark, from IQM Quantum Computers, a leader in superconducting quantum technology.
