Maximum Fuel Flexibility for Cost-Effective & Compliant Voyages - easy with Aquametro's GreenBLEND! Until now, environmental regulations for the maritime industry have largely been driven by European initiatives such as FuelEU Maritime, EU-ETS and EU MRV. However, major companies—including fuel suppliers, bunkering firms, and ship operators—are now beginning to expand their biofuel businesses in Asia, particularly in Singapore.   Recently, NYK and Petrobras have come into focus regarding biofuels in the Asian market. NYK is testing biofuel on one of their coal carriers, while Petrobras has entered the Asian biofuel market with its first sale of VLSFO containing 24% renewable biofuel (B24 – 24% ISCC-EU certified used cooking oil methyl ester) in Singapore. This highlights the growing recognition of biofuels' potential to reduce CO₂ emissions in the maritime industry, even beyond Europe.   What can a quick and economical solution look like, that would allow many to benefit from the still limited amount of biofuel available? Use biofuel (B100), respective biofuel blends (B1…30), as drop-in to conventional marine fuels with GreenBLEND. ✔️ By using Aquametro’s GreenBLEND the bunkered biofuel blend will last for a much longer distance which optimizes OPEX. ✔️ Even with very small blend ratios of e.g. 2% biofuel you can reach compliance with FuelEU while saving money. ✔️ The GreenBLEND offers you maximum flexibility – the blending ratio can be changed while the vessel is in operation. Giving you the choice to use the available fuels with the most economical blend ratio for your voyage.   The GreenBLEND can be integrated into an existing fuel system with very little technical effort. With this fully certified, automated blending system, the blending process of different fuel types is precisely controlled, allowing for real-time regulation and monitoring of the blending ratio.   To address potential incompatibility or sludge formation from biofuel blends, the GreenBLEND system can be enhanced with an Aquametro Homogenizer. This dynamic milling machine improves fuel quality for optimized combustion while minimizing wear on engine components like fuel pumps and injectors. It also reduces the risk for clogged filters.   The GreenBLEND is successfully in operation for many years. A Finish ship owner, was able to double the share of bio-oil in all used fuel onboard on one of its cargo vessels by using GreenBLEND.   The increasing adoption of biofuels in the Asian market underscores the need for efficient and flexible fuel management solutions. Regular crew seminars are essential for ensuring that maritime teams stay up to date with the latest industry developments, safety protocols, and operational best practices. At a recent 1st Container Officer Crew Seminar, held by our client TB MARINE CONT SHIPMANAGEMENT in Istanbul, Türkiye, our company had the opportunity to present insights into our products to a group of approximately 30 participants. The two-day event featured internal updates as well as training sessions from select external partners, offering valuable knowledge on services and solutions used on board. On the second day of the seminar, Aquametro’s Technical Support Manager, Johannes Fleischer, conducted a one-hour presentation, sharing key updates and practical applications tips about our Shaft Power Meter SPM as well as our SHaPoLi Monitoring Display. The following Q&A session showed the high level of interest and positive feedback on our presentation by the crew seminar participants.   Using shaft power measurement & shaft power limitation is an easy and cost-effective solution to meet the EEXI requirements. The Shaft Power Meter (SPM) is the key component for measuring ship performance and fuel/propulsion efficiency. The system is easy to install and requires no electronic parts on the shaft. The SPM measures the shaft rpm, shaft torque and shaft power. Based on these values the SHaPoLi Monitoring Display, that is installed on the bridge, monitors the shaft power limit and in case of exceedance gives a visual and an acoustic signal. All data, necessary to comply with Resolution MEPC.335(76), is automatically recorded in a tamper-proof manner. The Aquametro Shaft Power Meter and SHaPoLi Monitoring System are Type Approved by DNV.   The seminar was a great opportunity to engage with the crew, answer questions, and reinforce how our solutions support their daily operations.   Since 2005 TB MARINE SHIPMANAGEMENT specializes in the transportation of liquid oil, containers, products and chemicals. Yesterday, Axel Schulz, CEO, and Jan Kahle, Supply Chain Manager of Aquametro Oil & Marine GmbH from Rostock-Warnemünde, presented a donation check of €1,000 to Jörg Westphal, the head of the Information Center for the Sea Rescuers in Rostock-Warnemünde. As a long-standing supplier to the maritime industry, Aquametro has a deep connection to seafaring. Many employees and the entire management team have gained their own experience at sea and understand firsthand how crucial it is to rely on dependable and professional support in emergencies. The Die Seenotretter – DGzRS (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger = German Maritime Search & Rescue Service) was founded in 1865 and is responsible for the maritime search & rescue service in the German areas of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. In many countries, state authorities assume responsibility for sea rescue. The DGzRS, which is responsible in Germany, is financed exclusively through donations and does not receive any governmental financial support. Today, employees of Aquametro Oil & Marine GmbH from Rostock-Warnemünde handed over the donation box to Birgit Haaks, the head of the Rostock Seemannsmission. She expressed gratitude on behalf of the Deutsche Seemannsmission Rostock e.V. for the donation. In the coming week, the staff, both paid and volunteer, along with supporters of the Rostock Seemannsmission, will pack and distribute approximately 400 Christmas packages to seafarers, assembled from the collected donations. As a supplier to the maritime industry, Aquametro shares a deep connection with seafaring. Many Aquametro employees, including the entire management team, have experienced life at sea firsthand and understand the challenges and needs of seafarers, appreciating the value of quality care in port. For this reason, Aquametro is once again supporting the Rostock Seemannsmission's Christmas campaign this year by donating essential items such as warm scarves, hats, gloves, hygiene products, and, of course, chocolate. Aquametro recently completed a challenging, time-sensitive project for our new client Zakher Marine International owned by ADNOC Logistics & Services, Abu Dhabi.   At the end of October 2024, Aquametro successfully completed the commissioning of its Remote Monitoring System (RMS) onboard QMS Lulwa, a Jack-up platform. Within this project Aquametro equipped QMS Lulwa with flow meters to monitor the Main Engines, Diesel Generators, Crane transfer, Deck machinery as well as the Bunker line. This project had to be finalized within a very tight time frame. In a joint team effort with our local partner Voyage Marine, Aquametro was able to complete delivery and installation of the whole system within only 2 weeks. The commissioning of the RMS was completed by Aquametro in two separate remote sessions along with the Voyage Marine team with the platform being offshore.   The monitored fuel consumption data, along with other readings and events, is transmitted to shore for analysis by charterers and ship owners. This enables better control and performance optimization of the engines via our web portal and mobile app. Zakher Marine International (ZMI) is an Abu Dhabi-based operator of offshore support vessels. They operate 24 jack-up barges and 38 offshore support vessels and employs over 1’700 people across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and China.   Since end of 2022 Zakher Marine International (ZMI) is part of ADNOC Logistics & Services the shipping and maritime logistics arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
