Cham-based startup ARTEM Technologie AG has raised €1.5 million in seed funding to develop its comprehensive software and hardware platform to enable the transition to net-zero manufacturing 🇨🇭 🌍 Nanxi Ding, Founder & CEO of ARTEM, said, “There has been significant development and growth in national and supranational carbon compliance and pricing mechanisms such as CBAM. Currently, USD 45 billion worth of goods are impacted by CBAM, with this figure expected to rise to USD 90 billion by 2030. The challenge for companies lies in finding a compliance solution that addresses the specific needs of each industry and helps them overcome cultural, jurisdictional, and informational barriers in the process of reporting. At ARTEM our mission is to build the infrastructure to trace GHG emissions from start to finish along cross-border supply chains. This allows producers, exporters and importers to comply with carbon taxes and emission trading schemes worldwide, especially those with a cross-border impact (such as CBAM). ⚠🕛 Time is running out for the world to meet climate targets🕛⚠ "The world is not on the path to limit the increase in temperature to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels. Its movement towards an irreversible change in the global climate does not mean the world has failed to make progress, however. On the contrary, there has been much improvement. Yet it is not enough. The question to be addressed at the COP29 climate conference in Baku this month is how to change this unhappy trajectory. “The last decade has seen the share of fossil fuels in the global energy mix gradually come down from 82 per cent in 2013 to 80 per cent in 2023,” says the International Energy Agency in its World Energy Outlook 2024 report. “Demand for energy has increased by 15 per cent over this period and 40 per cent of this growth has been met by clean energy.” In sum, demand for fossil fuels has continued to expand and its share in supply has barely fallen; we have been running fast to stand still. Some countries will be more affected by CBAM than others. #Albania #Armenia, #NorthMacedonia, the #UK, #Egypt and #Turkey exported more than 50% of their covered goods to the EU. On a nominal basis, the most exposed country is #China. In 2022, China sent USD 21 billion of CBAM goods to the EU, followed by Turkey (USD14 billion), India (USD9 billion), the UK (USD9 billion) and South Korea (USD5 billion).

The Regulation requires the fossil gas, oil and coal industries in Europe to measure, monitor, report and verify their methane emissions according to the highest standards. On a global scale, imported fossil fuels will be asked to maintain the same monitoring and reporting obligations as #EUOperators. This is a core message of #MarioDraghi’s report on European competitiveness. #Decarbonisation is seen as an opportunity to improve the resilience of Europe’s economy, but Draghi also warns of continued energy price volatility, higher investment costs, and Chinese competition. Some months earlier, Enrico Letta called for much deeper integration of the single market, especially through the finalization of the Capital Markets Union. This is the probe head that will be installed on the flue gas chimney of the production facility. It continuously samples the emitted gas and sends it to our Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS), which analyzes its composition, flow rate, gas concentration, humidity, and temperature.
