🌍 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝟮𝟵: 𝗔 𝗺𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗴, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗻—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁—𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 As #COP29 drew to a close, the final document includes 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 - but falls far short of what experts say is needed. And one thing remains clear: we are 𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭.𝟱°𝗖 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 of the Paris Agreement. Global progress remains very uneven, with major gaps in areas such as climate action and how to finance it. For Switzerland🇨🇭, the news is equally alarming - 𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙡𝙤𝙗𝙖𝙡 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨: 😱 https://lnkd.in/dhJJi8QX But Switzerland has the 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀💰, 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻🤖, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲🚀 t𝗼 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. At B Lab Switzerland, we see businesses as critical drivers of change. 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗧𝗜 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 are already leading - 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆. 🥵 And yet we all see that it is not enough. Therefore, we would like to know: ❓𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯? 📣 𝘛𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴! While #COP29 may not have delivered all the answers, it reinforced this truth: 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆."📚 It was by quoting Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, that Prof. Dr. Reto Knutti, climate scientist and professor at ETH Zürich, closed his keynote speech at the SWISS IMPACT FORUM 2024. And his messages cut straight to the heart of climate action. While the facts are clear – methane and CO₂ levels are at record highs, and warming is unequivocal – they alone aren’t enough to inspire change. 👉 Reto reminded us of the urgency to reframe the narrative around climate change. The numbers might explain snowless slopes in Gstaad and unfulfilled emission goals, but it’s how we tell the stories that will shape how people act. His call to action? 📣 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙣𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 📣 One that’s crafted by many voices, built on diverse perspectives, and rooted in shared values. A narrative that cuts through fake news and frames climate action as not just necessary but achievable and inspiring. 💡 As businesses, it’s our responsibility to think carefully about the stories we tell. Last week at the 𝗦𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗨𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, we were honored to have André Hoffmann , Vice-Chairman of Roche, deliver a powerful keynote on #𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺. 🌍✨ Launching his new book "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺" (co-authored with journalist Peter Vanham), André called for a bold transformation of capitalism. What a memorable day at the SWISS IMPACT FORUM 2024! 🚀 The energy in the room was electric and the message was clear: business as usual is no longer an option - we need bold, regenerative solutions now. From inspiring keynotes to dynamic deep dives, here are just some of the highlights: 🌿 John Elkington, the visionary behind the Triple Bottom Line, challenged us to go beyond sustainability and embrace truly regenerative business practices. 🤝 André Hoffmann made a powerful call for a shift towards a stakeholder economy, where business is a force that serves all stakeholders, including nature and society. 💬 In a heartfelt exchange on intergenerational climate action, Rita Schirmer-Braun and Alexis Balimann reminded us that we must never give up the fight for a net-positive future. 🌍 Reto Knutti stressed the urgency of climate action and called for a new narrative - one shaped by diverse perspectives but united by a single, shared goal.
