It's time .. for a more nature and climate in Davos! 🌲🦋 Check out this year's Climate Hub Davos' programme: https://lnkd.in/eGW938qS
If you would have told me 5 years ago we would be running a Climate Hub during the WEF’s Annual Meeting in Davos, and it would become one of GreenUp’s flagship projects, I wouldn’t have believed it. But it’s true! For the second year in a row, and today our 2025 programme is out. Where last year by trial and error we not only created a wonderful regenerative open space thanks to Silvan Kuhl from OFFCUT Basel, we also made a few really cool things happen; from a wonderful “Tasting the Future of (plantbased) Cheese with New Roots AG down to the global premiere of the movie “Here Now”. But we are expecting even more highlights 🌟 this year. - How about the session “Nature on a Balance Sheet”? - A cacao tea with wild cacao straight from Brazil around the fire? - A keynote by Bangladesh Interim Premier and Nobel-Prize winner Prof Muhammad Yunus? - A very rhythmic and special start of our day themed regenerative future with Chad Frischmann and the RegenIntel network who share the Story of Regeneration? - An Impact Ecosystem Earth Action Night? - Exciting sessions to ensure that Nature and Climate are on Top? - A speed-dating eve for young professionals and climate leaders? - A VR-experience around the earth’s tipping points? - An eve around "Our Swiss Future?" There is that and much much more to look forward to. And the best of it all - you don’t need to fly in if you don’t live outside Switzerland; we will stream it all 🎥. And not to forget; there are a Foyer and Plaza that empower you to move sustainably, meet up and make valuable connections, enjoy nutritious and yummy plant-based food 🥐 🥒 and drinks, and overall take action 💪🏾 for the future of people on our planet. Curious? Excited? Check out https://lnkd.in/efKXCnaA See you there, and keep following us for updates. Registration opens 3rd Jan. And last-but-not-least, a huge thanks 🙏 to all our partners and supporters! p.s. Our Tuesday evening event got unexpectedly cancelled yesterday, so if you have good ideas for an impactful evening event on Tuesday 21st January? Send in proposals until end of the year. Reflections on the Strategic Impact Reflection Circle: A Journey Toward Systemic Change we had the opportunity to represent the GoSimple Program at the Strategic Impact Reflection Circle event, organized by One Planet Lab Schweiz. This event brought together a diverse group of changemakers to explore pressing topics like systemic change, sufficiency, and systems thinking – to foster collective learning and strengthen the relationships between various test projects working toward sustainable transformation. The event was structured around three impactful sessions, each focusing on a different aspect of the journey toward systems change: 1️⃣ Theory of Change: We kicked off with a powerful conversation about our shared understanding of systemic change. The session prompted us to think deeply about how our efforts contribute to creating a collective impact. It was an eye-opening experience to see how our GoSimple initiatives align with the broader goals of sustainable transformation. 2️⃣ Ecosystem Awareness: The second session was about identifying where and how we, as a community, can make the most significant contributions to systemic change in our ecosystems. We dove into discussions about key leverage points and the challenges we face in driving impactful change within our local contexts. For GoSimple, this was a valuable opportunity to pinpoint areas where we can enhance our work and deepen our impact. 3️⃣ Collaboration for Systems Change: Finally, we explored the power of collaboration. How can we join forces to amplify our collective impact? This session underscored that the most meaningful and lasting change happens when we work together, aligning our efforts toward a shared vision. This was a reminder of the incredible power that comes from collaboration across projects and organizations. Being part of this circle of innovators, each working on different pieces of the sustainability puzzle, was truly inspiring. The experience gave us new insights into the complexities of system change and reaffirmed the importance of community, collaboration, and learning from each other’s journeys. At GreenUp Switzerland we are committed to contributing to this larger movement toward a sustainable future. Thank you to One Planet Lab for organizing this insightful event, and to all the participants for their dedication to creating a better, more sustainable world. What are your thoughts on systemic change? How can we collaborate to create a greater collective impact? Let’s continue the conversation! #SystemsChange #Sustainability #Collaboration #GoSimple #OnePlanetLab #CollectiveImpact #TheoryOfChange #EcosystemAwareness #Sufficiency #SustainabilityLeadership Nicole Keller Eniko Halo Laurène Descamps Zora Zubler Leonard Creutzburg Zoller Franziska

Reflecting on our GoSimple Talk with Vanessa Rueber from Patagonia: Harnessing Corporate Activism - How Patagonia Leads by Example and Inspires Change Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Vanessa Rueber from Patagonia for an insightful GoSimple Talk, which was truly inspiring! Vanessa shared how Patagonia is leading the way in using corporate activism to make a real impact on the world. She explained how Patagonia consistently uses its platform to champion causes that align with its values—whether that’s protecting the environment, supporting social justice, or promoting ethical business practices. Here are a few key takeaways from the session: 1️⃣ Activism Comes in Many Forms: Corporate activism isn’t just about one big action. Vanessa shared how Patagonia embraces activism in different ways, whether it’s pushing for sustainable practices within the company, supporting social causes, or launching environmental campaigns. The important part is making sure your actions align with your company’s values. 2️⃣ Storytelling is Key: Vanessa talked about the power of storytelling to drive activism. By sharing real, emotional stories, companies can connect with their audience and inspire them to take action. It’s a great way to build a deeper connection with people. 3️⃣ Protect What You Love: A big theme in the webinar was the idea of protecting what you love. Whether it’s the planet, human rights, or another cause, companies should focus on protecting what matters most to them. Not only does this build trust with customers, but it also helps make a real difference. A huge thanks to Vanessa for sharing such valuable insights. We’re all feeling inspired to think about how we can bring more activism into our own work and businesses. What if “consumerism” didn’t mean more stuff? In a world increasingly driven by consumerism, #Patagonia stands out as a true leader in corporate activism. Their "Buy Less, Demand More" campaign sends a crucial message: businesses have a responsibility to lead the way in sustainable practices, and as consumers, we must demand more from the companies we support. Patagonia encourages us to question overconsumption and take a stand against environmental harm — principles that lie at the core of GreenUp’s projects, with GoSimple being one of its flagship initiatives. GreenUp Switzerland is committed to raising awareness about the impact of our everyday choices. Patagonia’s message aligns perfectly with our mission: to encourage conscious, sustainable living. It's not enough for businesses to profit — they must take action on the issues that matter most, like climate change, fair labor practices, and transparency. Patagonia’s campaign isn’t just about selling fewer products; it’s about driving systemic change and inspiring all of us to rethink our role as consumers. As they show, true corporate activism is about taking responsibility and leading by example — something we strive to encourage in the individuals and communities we work with. Through our events and projects, we aim to highlight the importance of holding companies accountable and demanding more sustainable, ethical practices from the brands we support. Why does this matter? GreenUp believes that small changes can have a big impact. By empowering individuals to make sustainable choices and raise their voices for systemic change, we can create a collective movement that pushes businesses to do better. Patagonia’s commitment is a perfect example of how a brand can use its platform for positive environmental and social change. 🌟 Unleashing our inner changemaker : the power of connections and learning while sharing 🌟 Our GoSimple team had the pleasure of hosting the dynamic workshop “Unleash your Inner Changemaker” as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Basel last Friday. In the run up to launching our GoSimple English Programme in Basel for the first time, this workshop focused on what is the last part of the GoSimple programme: how can we harness our circle of #influence to drive meaningful #impact. During the workshop, our 10 participants engaged in: ✅ A thought-provoking discussion on circles of influence and how they relate to changemaking. ✅ Collaborative brainstorming sessions in breakout groups, where they tackled specific topics to identify what they could (and couldn’t) influence, and direct their energy where they can actually make an impact. The energy in the room was inspiring, and the feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive! 🙌 What our participants really liked was to connect with like-minded individuals and expand their network with fellow changemakers. #Changemaking is one of the topics we cover in our broader Go Simple program, which focuses on empowering individuals to live more sustainable and impactful lives. Changemaking is just one piece of the puzzle — our mission GreenUp Switzerland is to inspire and equip people to take action for a better future. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this inspiring workshop together, we’re proving that small actions can lead to big changes! 🌱 Want to also unleash your inner changemaker? Join GoSimple English 👇 from February 15th, and invite your friends too! #EntrepreneurshipWeek #Basel #Changemaking #Sustainability #Workshop

How energising and inspiring it was to meet and connect with visionary leaders and change-makers working together to shape a sustainable future at the #SwissImpactForum2024 in Bern last week organised by B Lab Switzerland. * More and more companies joining the movement: we are in this together! * Great sharing and learning - from the Swiss Youth representatives all the way to the Klima Seniorinnen. * An interesting new app to connect to fellow participants. * Keynote speech given by Reto Knutti: People change if you give them alternatives that work. * Deep Dive on innovative models of stakeholder engagement moderated by Sebastien Chahidi and our board member Caroline Putman Cramer: Tangible insightful different approaches from forward thinking companies and teams were shared: if #governance is key when you want to prioritise #stakeholder #engagement, how important is employer #loyalty? By putting (authentic!) sustainability at the heart of the organisation and making sure you consider your employees as your number 1 stakeholders, you not only build #resilience, but also foster #innovation. Or was it innovation that then fosters resilience? At Green Up, we built our workshops and our GoSimple programme as one way of enhancing employee engagement. Curious? Learn more here 👇

And another great and impactful workshop!
Throwback on the last Food Futures Workshop in Laax by GreenUp Switzerland 🍽️ “We cooked a strange dessert”. This is one feedback we got after our Food Futures workshop around #SustainableFood, as we chose to make a vegan version of the French pain perdu with recovered bread as an example of a recipe against #FoodWaste. In this workshop, we usually kick off by looking at facts around food production and consumption: 📉 did you know that the global #FoodSystem is the single biggest contributor to climate change, causing 1/3 of global #GreenhouseGasEmissions? ♻️ We then question our food choices and brainstorm about sustainable solutions and actions to the food challenges we face today. Among those solutions, reducing food waste is one of the keys. According to the United Nations, almost 1 billion tons of food – 17 percent of all food available to consumers worldwide – goes into trash bins every year. This is not new for you? Well for many of our 32 participants it was. And they learnt a lot of concrete tips and tricks, and most importantly, had a lot of fun when we ended our workshop in the kitchen for some immediate and actionable anti-waste cooking. What could be more satisfying than being able to measure, in your own kitchen, your #impact on #FoodWasteSolutions and the reduction of CO2 emissions? 🌍 Thanks Repower for this cool opportunity and to my co-hosts Nicole Keller and Thais Daddario for the worksop lead and organisation. What is your best #ZeroWaste recipe? Share it with us and go check the Green Up website for more! #CorporateVolunteering #CircularEconomy #SustainableFuture #ClimateAction #CSR #ClimateSolutions #FutureOfFood #GreenUp #FoodFutures #learning #TeamBuilding
