Two of our biggest brands, Lipton and Pure Leaf are worth over $1 billion in Retail Sales Value. As a company in its own right, the joint venture has its own board of directors. As a global organisation the variation in countries, bottlers and manufacturing sites makes this a very exciting place to work. What did an 1800s headliner drink? Pepsi Lipton #IcedTea of course! 🎤✨ Imagine our surprise this week when a Lipton bottle from 1878 was unearthed during renovations at London’s iconic @Alexandra Palace and Park — a hidden gem with stories to tell! This legendary venue, which opened to the public in 1873, goes by the nickname "Ally Pally”, and has hosted iconic music names like Led Zeppelin, Queen, and The Stone Roses. Our founder, Thomas Lipton, opened his first store in Glasgow in 1871, so this was one of the first ever ready-to-drink teas, served at Ally Pally from an iconic tea tram. 🚋 We love the thought of Victorian revellers and performers enjoying a refreshing iced tea. And it’s living proof that Lipton has always been a #WinningBlend, uplifting festival goers and bringing the #Funshine for generations! Fun fact: Did you know Alexandra Palace wasn’t always called Ally Pally? 🏰 Originally it was named the “Palace of the People” by its designer Owen Jones but was renamed to honour the new Princess of Wales when it opened in 1873.
