Cycling 4 Climate raises awareness of climate change and promotes action by organizing cycling events (Climate Classics) as well as encouraging professional cycling to act. The organization Cycling 4 Climate is a non-profit organization, founded in 2019 in the Netherlands. C4C Switzerland was founded in 2024. C4C Switzerland's mission is - creating measurable impact in Switzerland - raise awareness through national growth and by supporting international expansion - be the accelerator of sustainability in professional CH cycling As part of our identity, all Climate Classic participants wear the climate stripes Jersey and socks to maximize awareness. This underlines our solidarity and the fact that we need each other and can only solve it together. The collective is stronger than the individual. Prior to rides, participants must agree upon our Carbon Code of Conduct and are encouraged developing a plan to reduce their footprint with a personal climate commitment.

Launch of CLIMATE ACTION PULSE CHECK 2024 Results We are proud to present the first edition of the Climate Action Pulse Check, a global survey that will function as an annual barometer of climate action progress within the cycling industry. We gathered insights from 84 industry professionals across 16 countries and 240 cycling consumers from 19 countries. The report showcases how companies in the cycling sector are integrating climate action into their strategies, including case studies from Apidura, Brompton Bicycle, OneUp Components, Rapha, Riese & Müller GmbH and Vittoria Group. It also highlights how cycling consumers perceive the industry's sustainability efforts and what they want to see more of from companies. It’s our hope that everyone reading this Pulse Check will not only find it insightful, but will recognise its value as a tool to accelerate climate action in their company and network. How cool is this! 🚴♀️ One of our participants at the Swiss Climate Classic rode the event on her 20-year-old road bike—her very first one! It’s a powerful reminder that we don’t always need the latest gear to enjoy the ride or make a positive impact. 🌍 This story beautifully demonstrates how the emotional connection to something well-loved can grow stronger over time. Instead of buying new, she built her bike from second-hand components, proving that sustainability and cycling go hand in hand. 💚 In a world where consumerism can often overshadow mindful choices, this participant's bike, "Tanky," is a shining example of how "new isn’t always better"—sometimes, old is gold! 🏆 Thank you to all our riders for making their pledges to reduce their carbon footprint. Last saturday was the Swiss Climate Classic. An innitiative to raise awareness about climate change. You might think: with cyclist?! Aren’t they ‘green’ already?! 1. It is always good to keep this topic top of mind and fun to share idea’s in an likeminded community. 2. Al participants had to calculate their footprint and take a pledge. It’s proven that pledges (ideally combined with nudges) work to help change behavior. 3. Among cyslist there tends to be a lot of consumerism.. Which is why there was a price for most sustainable bike. The winner, see below! This is Tanky. I built it from the frame from my first roadbike and handpicked all components, second hand. Because of this, I have an emotional connection to this bike and take care of it as well as I can. New isn’t cool, used is! I took Patagonia’s pledge: Dont buy what you don’t need a long time ago, and I still try to live up to it. Tanky is an example that it isn’t a sacrifice, it’s rewarding!

Together, we raised awareness about climate change and made personal pledges to reduce our #CO2 emissions by a total of 110 tons—the equivalent of planting over 1,800 trees or taking 24 cars off the road for a year! 🌿🚗 A huge thank you to all participants for your energy and commitment, and a special shoutout to Emma Pooley for presenting the award for the most sustainable bike to Liesbeth Deddens!
