Bringing together 18 partners from Czechia, Lithuania, and Ukraine, along with key stakeholders, the consortium has gathered at the HiLASE Centre for the project's official kick-off meeting, which commenced today. 🎤 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬: 🔹 Michael Prouza (Director of the FZU - Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences) opened the meeting by welcoming participants on behalf of the HiLASE Centre and the Institute. 🔹 Petra Pecková (Stredocesky kraj (Central Bohemia Region) Governor) emphasized the transformative nature of the LASER-PRO excellence hub, which extends far beyond the scope of a traditional project. She wished it success in the years ahead. 🔹 Jana Havlíková (Deputy Minister for Science, Research, and Innovation) stressed the importance of connecting research and innovation with regional governments, fostering the development of the regions involved in the project. 🔹 Radek Špicar (Vice-President of the Confederation of Industry) highlighted how projects like LASER-PRO promote collaboration between research and industry, which is crucial for economic growth. 🔹 Helena Schulzová (Deputy Director of the Department of Economic and Science Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic ) praised Ukrainian institutions' involvement and the project's global significance. 🔹 Rolandas Kačinskas (Ambassador of Lithuania to the Czech Republic) underscored the importance of Czech-Lithuanian collaboration for economic prosperity. 🔹 Helena Jelínková (Professor of Applied Physics, Czech Technical University in Prague) reflected on the long-standing cooperation between academia and industry in the field of laser technology in Czechia. 🔹 Petr Očko (Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic) wished the project partners success and emphasized the strong ties between the HiLASE Centre and industrial stakeholders. 🔹 Tomas Mocek (Head of the #HiLASE) concluded the opening session by stating that LASER-PRO is not just a project, but a movement towards international collaboration, economic prosperity, and research excellence. That was certainly not all as for the esteemed guests.
