Happy news before the weekend! 🎉👨🎓 We are proud to announce that our colleague in microscopy and yCSMS board member Lukáš Průcha recently advanced to the next lvl of his career by gaining his PhD title! He successfully defended his thesis on the topic of Advanced analysis and application of graphene (not only) in electron microscopy and finished his studies at the Brno University of Technology. We are very happy for you and wish you a great career and many (maximum 5 actually from now) years on the yCSMS board! 😉

Dear followers, here is a short report from our visit to the Thermo Fisher Scientific company in Brno - the largest electron microscopy factory in the world 🌍 and one of the three important producers of microscopes located in Brno. 🔬 Brnoregion Microscopy We started with an introduction to the TFS history in electron microscopy and to the company in general by Petr Střelec, CEO of the TFS in Brno. Then we spent about 2 hours in the production clean space area, being guided through the labyrinth of the future microscopes while hearing about the many steps in the production process. At the end of our visit (and after some nice refreshments), we had a fruitful discussion with some of the TFS employees of various jobs and positions about their path in the company, responsibilities, work schedules, what they like and dislike about their jobs, etc. We appreciate such open discussion which we think is not easily accessible for young researchers in general. With that, we would like to thank Jana Dvořáková for the organization, our guides for the very enthusiastic tour through the premises, the attendees of the discussion for sharing their experiences, and Mr. Střelec for meeting us. Microscopes 🔬, a factory tour 🏭 and food 🍲! At the last minute, we have a couple of new spots open for a few people for an excursion to Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno organized by yCSMS, which will take place on September 17 from 13:00❗ You have a unique opportunity to join us on a factory tour to one of the largest employers and manufacturers of electron microscopes. 🔬 Are you a student wondering what you could do after school❓ Are you a recent graduate looking around for a new job❓ Or are you just a fan of microscopes, you work with them and want to see what it looks and runs like elsewhere❓ Then this excursion is for you❗ We'll take you on a tour of the whole factory. And if you've been wondering about microscopy and working with microscopes, there will be plenty of people to answer all your questions.
