🎬𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀: 𝗔𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗶-𝟮 🛫 After the roll-out and presentation of our first emission-free aircraft, the APUS i-2 (Mira), in September, a lot has happened. We’ve made great progress in shaping its future and are steadily moving toward the maiden flight. We’re excited to share an update and highlight 5 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 🔍 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 (𝗚𝗩𝗧): Immediately after the roll-out, the GVT was conducted. The goal was to evaluate the aeroelastic behavior of our aircraft – a key step toward the first flight. 📄 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: We’re continuously working to finalize the manufacturing documentation and complete smaller, outstanding tasks. The focus is on precise testing and documentation processes, which are essential. ⚙️ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Currently, the acceptance testing and commissioning of the propulsion system are running in parallel. It will still take some time until the entire propulsion system is fully operational, and we are making good progress. 🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁: As another important step toward safety and certification, our Team Lead of Software & Systems Engineering, Philipp Schildt, is currently conducting tests on the thermal runaway behavior of the HV battery. ✈️ 𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Last week, our Co-Founders Robert Adam and Martin König, and our test pilot met with flight experts from EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency. Topics discussed included the first flight scenario, risks, mitigations, and the flight manual. More meetings will follow in the coming weeks to ensure the flight conditions – and ultimately the first flight approval – are secured. We remain full of energy and can’t wait to see our APUS i-2 revolutionize the skies and shape the future of aviation. With each milestone, we’re one step closer to making emission-free flight a reality. 🛫 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗶-𝟮 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗢𝗣𝗩 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 Last week, our team members Julia Sagel, Project Management, and Valerii Zuiko, Structure & Systems Design, attended COPV World 2024, the Composite Pressure Vessels Conference and Exhibition in Belgium, Brussel hosted by Sharp Composites B.V. Given the conference’s strong emphasis on the use of hydrogen, Julia provided an in-depth overview of our development story and engineering achievements with our APUS i-2 – the world’s first hydrogen-powered certifiable passenger aircraft. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 ✨ We were thrilled to receive positive feedback on the rapid development of the APUS i-2 prototype, especially regarding our integration of hydrogen pressure vessels into the wings and our extensive testing procedures. Participants were particularly interested in our unique approach to addressing the specific requirements of aircraft design, which differ significantly from those of other vehicles. Designing the wings to accommodate hydrogen tanks – using small-diameter, long-length tanks due to their unconventional geometry – was a challenge we embraced. Our wings are an essential engineering component that make the APUS i-2 a groundbreaking innovation. Notable, we were the only company at the conference implementing hydrogen vessels in aircraft construction. 𝗣𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🔥 One of our standout strengths is our expertise in certification management. We were pleased that participants recognized the complexities of the certification process, which we have pioneered with the APUS i-2’s certification at EASA. It is always gratifying to introduce our APUS i-2 to the world and receive approval, as it fuels our motivation to progress and prepare for the maiden flight. Stay tuned for updates as we continue engineering a green future of aviation 🌱🛩 #aviation #innovation #hydrogen #revolution

We provided them with an update on the funding program and hosted an inspiring venue for their regular networking meeting. The WFBB supports investors, start-ups, and companies like ours in locating or developing in Brandenburg. It also provides advice and services for these companies and contributes to the economic development of the region. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹-𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 ✨ After the assembly and successful roll-out of our APUS i-2, we were able to present our great progress to completing the aircraft. We provided an exclusive look at the behind the scenes of the manufacturing process and innovation behind our zero-emission aircraft, the APUS i-2. 𝗥𝗲́𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲́ 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗘𝗢 Phillip Scheffel 💡 We are very happy to have great basic research funding in Germany. Unfortunately, most of it ends after TRL-6 (prototype, demonstrator), and companies must obtain additional financing independently. This often requires international investors. As a result, the funded know-how migrates abroad. A great opportunity could arise if this was reversed with European government contracts: less direct basic funding, and more application and business funding. Additionally, if implemented correctly, this could attract international high-tech companies to Germany. What is your opinion on this? #aviation #innovation #brandenburg #hydrogen #aviation #innovation #brandenburg #hydrogen Dr. Kuang Dai, Dr. Matthias Kirbach, Ulrike Wohlert, Josephine Henkel, Christoph Ritschel

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗹-𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗔𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗶-𝟮 🎉🛩 After 10 years of scientific research for tanks and energy management systems and 3 years of design and building, APUS Zero Emission GmbH achieved a significant milestone last Friday: our first emission-free aircraft, APUS i-2, was rolled out and presented to the world. We accomplished a huge step in our mission (without emission) and had a roll-out celebration that we will never forget. It’s hard to find the words to convey our love, pride, and thankfulness for this monumental moment. We look back on an inspiring speech about the meaning of innovation driven by teamwork by our Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of Brandenburg, Prof. Dr. Joerg Steinbach, great guests, live music, good food, and most importantly, the roll-out of our aircraft itself. It was a breathtaking moment when the doors of our test center opened and all the employees pulled out the i-2 prototype together. To make the crafting of the APUS i-2 even more special, our employees and guests voted on a name for our first prototype, choosing “Mira” from the selected names proposed by the team. The name “Mira” comes from a double star that not only has a beautiful hydrogen orbital eol but was also the first non-supernova variable star discovered, making it the prototype for a class of stars called Mira variables. 𝟲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗶-𝟮 🟢 First emission-free, four-seat normal-category (CS-23) aircraft for daily use 🟢 A range of 500 NM and a maximum cruise speed of 160 KTAS 🟢 Hydrogen fuel cell as its primary source of energy 🟢 100 % emission-free, i.e. zero CO₂, zero NOx, low noise 🟢 Up to 25 % higher specific energy density compared to standard hydrogen fuel tanks 🟢 Up to 10x better energy density than battery powered aircraft After achieving this milestone, we are now heading for the maiden flight. We can hardly wait to see our i-2 revolutionize the skies and the future of aviation. #aviation #innovation #hydrogen #engineering Fotocredits: Rosenberg Entertainment
