#InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities Projects are more effective when they involve persons with disabilities from the start. Last year, CBM worked with 255 organisations of persons with disabilities to develop inclusive projects, impacting 62.2 million people globally. This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we’re calling for more data-driven approaches that centre the voices of those who know their needs best. Let’s build a future where no one is left behind. #IDPWD2024 #InclusiveProgramming #DataDrivenDecisions #DevelopmentImpact

CBM recently met with the German Embassy in Nigeria to discuss the upcoming Transitional Development Assistance (TDA) by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Key participants included Ms. Karin Jansen and Matthias Dold from the German Embassy. Members from CBM included Omoi Samuel, David Sabo, and Stanley Eze. This meeting laid the groundwork for future collaboration and donor engagement to enhance regional cooperation. TDA aims to strengthen the resilience of those most affected by crises and strengthen local structures for sustainable self-sufficiency so that they can deal with existing crises themselves and reduce the risk of new crises. TDA thus makes an important contribution to crisis prevention. During the meeting, the agenda covered CBM’s work in Nigeria, highlighting achievements, partnership models, and strategies for Inclusive Humanitarian Action (IHA) and Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID). The German government provides funding for several CBM projects. In addition, the Embassy proposed to streamline coordination efforts with UNDP to ensure alignment and avoid overlap in project implementation areas. Given the security challenges in the initially identified regions, CBM is actively collaborating with both the Embassy and UNDP to identify safer alternative locations for project execution. In this video by the BMZ, learn more about TDA and where it has been implemented and why its successes need to be replicated in Nigeria: https://loom.ly/XnLLOjo #InclusiveDevelopment #SustainableLivelihoods #CommunityResilience #EmpoweringCommunities #BMZPartnership #HumanitarianAid #DisabilityInclusion #GlobalPartnerships #CommunityImpact

A team from CBM and The Lions Foundation Germany (Stiftung Der Deutschen Lions - SDL) and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development visited two eye care projects in Ethiopia to expand access to quality eye care for children and underserved communities. The team assessed the progress of a new paediatric eye unit being constructed at ALERT Hospital, which is on schedule to meet its quality and timing goals. At Cheshire Ethiopia's Comprehensive Eye Care Services, the team reviewed programs supported by BMZ and SDL that provide essential equipment, supplies, and training to enhance eye health systems across various regions. Overall, this visit reaffirmed the commitment of SDL, CBM and BMZ to sustainable eye care solutions for Ethiopia’s most vulnerable populations, with both projects poised to significantly enhance eye health services nationwide. #EyeHealth #CBMEthiopia #InclusiveDevelopment #HealthSystems #Partnership

CBM Ethiopia organised a special Donor Appreciation Event to express gratitude to our partners and discuss future collaborations for disability inclusion in Ethiopia. Notable guests, including Mr Ferdinand Von Weyhe, the German Deputy Ambassador, and representatives from USAID, BMZ, and other prominent institutional donors, attended the event. This occasion allowed us to reflect on the impact we have accomplished together, thanks to the support of our institutional and government donors. Featuring stories from beneficiaries and a powerful performance by children from Hossana School for the Deaf, the day served as a reminder of our vision: to create an inclusive world in which all persons with disabilities enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential. #Inclusion #DisabilityRights #CBMEthiopia #Partnerships #GlobalDevelopment

Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds will get rid of germs that otherwise make you sick⚠️ But how long is 20 seconds? 🎂 The song "Happy Birthday" twice in a row (20 seconds) 💃 The chorus of Dolly Parton's classic “Jolene” once (22 seconds) 🎤 Or the chorus of “Africa” by Toto (also 22 seconds) Unfortunately, washing hands is a luxury for many people: 3.6 billion do not have access to safe, sanitary facilities, and often, their water is contaminated. Diseases like trachoma can spread and lead to blindness. This is why CBM is committed to ensuring people have access to clean water and participate in hygiene education to prevent the spread of diseases, including neglected tropical diseases. This is a lifesaver ❤️ #BeatNTDs #Water #WASH
