[DEAL] We supported the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China (China MOF) in making its comeback to the US dollar bond market after three years. The 3-/5-year dual-tranche sovereign bond offering totalling US$2 billion was priced in Saudi Arabia on 13 November. The issuance attracted US$40 billion in demand, with final orderbooks oversubscribed by 15.5 times and 27.1 times for the 3- and 5-year tranches, respectively. China MOF achieved historically tight spreads for both tranches – the US$1.25 billion, 3-year, and US$750 million, 5-year securities were priced at one and three basis points above Treasuries, respectively. We acted as one of the joint lead managers and joint bookrunners on the transaction. This is the ninth consecutive time we participated in China MOF’s international bond issuances since 2018. We are also the sole French bank to consistently underwrite dual-currency issuances in US dollars and euros for China MOF for four consecutive times. Read more: https://bit.ly/4g2bbTo

🌱 We recently advised and supported Hong Kong’s Urban Renewal Authority (URA) in developing and publishing a Sustainable Finance Framework. The Framework will act as a guideline for deploying URA’s urban renewal strategies including low-carbon buildings, affordable housings and public facilities, and also financing their #sustainable projects. Beyond the traditional architectural aspects, the Framework was also designed to drive social impacts, such as #employment and socioeconomic #empowerment for urban renewal projects. 🙌 We’re honoured to have taken a part in supporting Hong Kong to revitalise its older districts sustainably, and positively impact the living environment for communities in the city. First successful instant #cashmanagement services experiment with the Eurosystem wholesale Central Bank Digital Currency (wCBDC) This experiment focused on deposit accounts held on-chain by several banks, with payments using a tokenized correspondent banking model and settlements conducted using wholesale CBDC (wCBDC). We conducted this experiment with CACEIS and Banque de France with the legal expertise of White & Case LLP (Paris office) and the coordination of KPMG France. BNP Paribas, SEB and Société Générale were invited as observers to share insights and demonstrate an interest for a shared standard within the industry. This experiment demonstrated: ✔️ The feasibility of a platform-less blockchain protocol. It proved that transactions can be securely settled without the need for a centralised platform operator. ✔️ The impact of a unified ledger of commercial bank money for the banking industry on the efficiency and the reduction of settlement risks. ✔️ The interoperability model of wCBDC provided on the Banque de France solution, DL3S, with #socash, an open source solution to represent deposit bank accounts in #blockchain using the properties of distributed ledger to carry out payments services. Why do we run this kind of experiments? 👇 Experimenting is key if we want to properly anticipate profound changes of the financial industry resulting from the development of digital assets. Therefore we are involved in different experiments with key actors of the financial industry and lead active discussions with regulators and the main market players (ECB, CDC, Euroclear) to define standards adapted to digital assets, in order to ensure investor protection and the stability of the financial system. 🇮🇹 🇪🇸 In November, our teams from Italy and Spain organised different initiatives to celebrate #DiversityMonth! On November 11th, our team in Milan hosted the third edition of the Women in Finance Aperitivo, a networking event organised in collaboration with Università Bocconi of Milan. Designed to foster connections, share insights, and inspire the next generation of female leaders in the financial sector, the initiative welcomed 15 female students from Bocconi University to the Milan office, where they had the opportunity to engage in an informal yet impactful #networking session. The aim was to break down barriers and showcase that the world of finance, particularly in investment banking, is a space for everyone, regardless of gender. On November 18th, Spain teams organised a discussion with Javier Martín, actor, TV presenter, journalist, and ambassador of Adecco Foundation. Javi shared, from his own experience, an insightful and rich discussion on mental health, that offers an intimate and hopeful vision to understand how people with mental health disorders can develop professionally, personally and lead a stable life. 🙌 Thank you to our colleagues who participated at the events: we continue to support initiatives that promote #diversity and #inclusion!

What is the role of the public sector in the financing of energy transition ? 👉 What are the decarbonation strategies of the official institutions segment ? [#DIVERSITYMONTH] Discussing workplace inclusion with Café Joyeux US, an organisation dedicated to providing meaningful employment to individuals who face challenges in accessing job opportunities due to disabilities. Since October 1st, we are actively supporting the recent installation of Café Joyeux in New York by sourcing our coffee directly from them. As part of our initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion, we had the privilege to receive Sylvie Giret, CEO of Café Joyeux US, a few days ago in our New York Office. She shared with us inspiring insights into Café Joyeux’s mission to create inclusive workplaces and their dedication to supporting individuals with #disabilities. We also had the chance to listen to the personal story of Diana, a member of the Café Joyeux’s team, providing a unique perspective on the impact of #inclusion within their organisation. These meaningful discussions reinforce our conviction that fostering an inclusive environment for all is essential to promote equal opportunities and #diversity. This event comes in addition to the initiatives ran as part of our “Allyship to Inspire Inclusion” which provide staff with greater knowledge of diversity as a whole, best practices for allyship, and actionable ways to contribute to creating a more inclusive workplace. A warm thank you to everyone who joined us for our Diversity Month event, highlighting our collaboration with Café Joyeux, we look forward to continuing this journey!
