Being in the Ruhr area for the Med.Venture event in my former hometown of Bochum and the BRYCK.COM Health Tech Investor Day brings back memories of my last trip to another former hometown, Bielefeld. On that occasion, I had the pleasure of attending the Hinterland of Things for the first time. It’s impressive to see how the event has evolved. It started with a wonderful EdTech Next Investors Dinner at the place where fans usually cheer for DSC Arminia Bielefeld. There, I had the opportunity to meet fascinating entrepreneurs in the EdTech sector, the EdTech team of Founders Foundation gGmbH, and other investor colleagues. Special thanks to Dennis Birkhölzer for the invitation, and to Celine Hilbich, Christine Lutz, and Matthias Helfrich for making it a memorable evening. Following a meeting with Eva Maria Scheid PCC at health.tech conference 2024 in Munich, I had the pleasure of meeting two more valued members of Croton Capital, Julia Leicht and Joern Caumanns, the next day. Led by Anna Fedulow, Croton Capital is an international business angel syndicate, where over 20 investors collaborate, bringing diverse professional experiences, expertise, and networks to support impactful early-stage tech companies. Our engangement as business angels was supported by listening to the roundtable discussion on the impact of business angels on the local ecosystem. I was delighted to see my former colleague from Bertelsmann Investments, Alena Kuhlmeier, who, along with Marek Lehmann and Burkhard Peters, heads the newly founded Teuto Seed Club. It’s inspiring to see other business angel communities eager to support the startup ecosystem as well. In another insightful roundtable, we discussed the influence of social background on startup potential, based on a report by Startup-Verband and Bertelsmann Stiftung. Alexander Hirschfeld presented the significant impact of social background on aspiring founders. It’s encouraging to see numerous initiatives already addressing this issue and providing support. I am pleased to be in close contact with 2hearts through Oktay Erciyaz, ArbeiterKind.de gGmbH through Katja Urbatsch and Cansu Doğan, and The Migrant Accelerator through Laila Zohaib Zohib and Shamila Borchers, and I am committed to supporting these excellent initiatives… #angelinvesting #hinterland24 #diversity #startups

Hybrid work is a living, breathing animal. It’s not about flipping a switch; it’s about finding that sweet spot unique to each company. We're sharing some cool insights from our May Pluria usage data – when, where, and how people are working, and most importantly, how they’re collaborating. Hope these will spark some good ideas and help you refine your hybrid work strategy. Some highlights: 🙌 Collaboration is key: an impressive 78% of workdays in third spaces were spent with colleagues 📍 Flexibility matters: Teams used an average of 4 different workspaces per month ⚖️ Balanced use: Meeting rooms and hot desks are used in relatively equal proportions. ☕️ Casual days: Cafés are now clearly part of the new work infrastructure. 📆 End-of-week trend: Thursday is peak for coworking spaces, and Friday for cafés.
