📢 Was braucht es stattdessen?

⚡ An impactful week full of insightful discussions in Belgrade and Skopje! 🤝 Last week, our team had the pleasure of participating in the delegation trip “Decarbonization in Industry", organized by the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbien), AHK Nordmazedonien I АХК Северна Македонија, Goduni International GmbH, and Germany Trade & Invest. In contact with energy producers and landfill operators, we explored how greenhouse gas emissions can be monitored and reduced and presented innovative solutions to support sustainable growth. 🌍As new EU regulations bring both challenges and opportunities, companies have the chance to improve their market position in the EU and globally by meeting these standards. Beyond compliance, there is an additional motivation: a tangible, positive impact on local communities through improved living and working conditions in the area of environmental, air, and climate protection measures. 💡We presented our tailor-made solutions for Serbian and Macedonian companies and shared insights on trends and challenges in decarbonization and emission reduction. 🗺️Serbia and North Macedonia have become attractive production locations and partners for German companies over the last 20 years. As any cooperation within the EU market is subject to high standards and regulations, there is a need for local companies to comply with them as well. DEUS is proud to be a partner that helps companies and countries achieve their emission reduction targets and build a more sustainable future. #decarbonization #ghg #sustainability #emissionreduction #methane #eu

❗ Landfills Emit Twice as Much Methane as Reported—Are We Underestimating Climate Impacts?❗ 📣 The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) released a groundbreaking map showcasing the scale of methane pollution from landfills across the United States. Methane, which has 80 times more warming power than CO₂ in the short term, is the third-largest source of emissions from the over 1,100 municipal solid waste landfills nationwide. 🔍 Key Findings: ❗ Landfills emitted 3.7 million metric tons of methane in 2021 (EPA data), but satellite analysis suggests the actual figure could exceed 6 million metric tons. ❗ Recent studies reveal that 47 of 70 landfills surveyed showed emissions exceeding levels reported to the EPA. ❗ About 2 million Americans live within a mile of a landfill, with vulnerable communities more likely to be impacted. ❗ 90 landfills had significant violations of environmental laws as of late 2023. 🌍But this isn’t just a U.S. issue—it's a global challenge. In many developing countries, landfills are even less regulated, with open dumping and inadequate waste management leading to far higher methane emissions. This makes the need for global action even more urgent, as vulnerable communities around the world face disproportionate health and environmental risks. 💨 ⚡ At DEUS, we leverage our extensive experience to support the industry in adopting continuous monitoring solutions. Continuous monitoring is crucial because it enables early detection of methane leaks, allowing for swift action to mitigate emissions before they become a significant environmental threat. With this technology, we can accelerate the detection of methane leaks, significantly reducing methane emissions and contributing to a more sustainable future. 🌿 Tackling methane pollution is not just a national priority but a global necessity. Let’s keep the focus on reducing methane pollution worldwide to safeguard our planet and health! 🌍 #Methane #ClimateAction #Methaneemissions #Pollution #GHG #EnvironmentalProtection #GlobalChallenge #Sustainability #PublicHealth

#digitalisierung #bmdv #greencities

🌍🚦 Are We Misunderstanding Air Pollution? New Research Challenges Old Beliefs! 🚦🌍 🚘 For years, it has been widely believed that traffic is the main culprit behind particulate matter in urban areas. However, as part of our groundbreaking DEUS project, we found that these correlations (in the six-month period studied, the monthly traffic vs. particulate matter hydrographs only matched for a maximum of three days) are not physically verifiable in city centers. That said, brake abrasion, tire wear, and engine emissions remain undeniable contributing factors. 📣 Now, we're thrilled to announce the launch of our new research project, KoFeMo (with a total budget of €3.38 million), supported by the German Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport through the mFUND innovation initiative. As a follow-up to DEUS SamrtAir , KoFeMo will focus on real-world, long-term testing at the DLR research intersection. Our goal? To examine fine particles directly from vehicles and how they distribute on the road and in urban environments. 🔹 Key Highlights of our new project, KoFeMo: ✅ Analyzing how fine particles from vehicles are distributed on roads. ✅ Examining the dispersion of particles within urban environments ✅ Collaboration with Audi VW, IAV, and TU Braunschweig. ✅Real-world, long-term testing at the DLR research intersection. ▶ Stay tuned for updates on this important journey toward cleaner air and sustainable mobility! #Research #Innovation #ParticulateMatter #AirQuality #Sustainability #CleanAir #Mobility #DLR #Audi #VW #IAV #TUBraunschweig
