We are happily looking back at our Country Directors Meeting. In the last two days we met with 70 colleagues from all our 30 country and regional offices in beautiful Bad Homburg. We exchanged experiences, talked about challenges in our work in shrinking spaces and how #adulteducation can create new opportunities and solutions. Translation: Through its Institute for International Cooperation (DVV International), the Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e. V. is committed to improving the legislative and financial framework conditions for adult education worldwide by advising partner institutions, through #lobbying and government consulting. DVV International has been active in Georgia since 2002 and has had a country office in the capital Tbilisi since 2012. Since 2016, the entire work in the Caucasus region has been coordinated from here as a regional office. The work is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany and the EU. During a five-day project trip to Georgia, DVV Association Director Julia v. Westerholt, together with Uwe Gartenschlager, Head of DVV International, got to know DVV International's work abroad in the Caucasus region at first hand. Durch Beratung von Partnereinrichtungen, durch #Lobbyarbeit und Regierungsberatung setzt sich der Deutscher Volkshochschul-Verband e. V. über sein Institut für internationale Zusammenarbeit (DVV International) weltweit dafür ein, die gesetzgeberischen und finanziellen Rahmenbedingungen für #Erwachsenenbildung zu verbessern. In Georgien ist DVV International seit 2002 aktiv, seit 2012 besteht in der Hauptstadt Tiflis ein Länderbüro. Seit 2016 wird von hier als Regionalbüro die gesamte Arbeit in der Kaukasusregion koordiniert. Die Arbeit wird mit Mitteln des Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ), des Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany und der EU finanziert. Bei einer fünftägigen Projektreise nach Georgien lernte DVV-Verbandsdirektorin Julia v. Our Urban X-Change Network is looking for two Urban X-Change Programme Manager who will support city partnerships between Germany and Poland/Germany and Ukraine. Yesterday at the European Committee of the Regions in Brussels, the European Training Foundation, the European Association for the Education of Adults - EAEA and DVV International highlighted the crucial role of adult learning in European integration. Participants underlined the importance of lifelong learning in both EU Member States and partner countries, and called for its preservation and continuous improvement through a comprehensive systems approach.
